With the release of a DLC called Dreadforge Patch, players are now able to upgrade the star level on all of their equipment. That said, if you are a new player to Dungeons of Sundaria, or just wish to expand your knowledge, then this guide is for you.
Dive on in as we explore the crafting basics, costs, fragments, star levels, and more. Without wasting any more time, let’s get to it!
Blacksmith
At the blacksmith forge you will encounter a rather lovely character named Kadrick who will be your “guy” for upgrading anything in this game. At Kadrick’s you can craft, upgrade, sell, buy, or salvage as you see fit. Below you can find the costs for crafting all items according to their level for a guaranteed craft.
Costs of crafting:
Common – 2 essence and approx. 2 gold
Superior – 8 essence and approx. 7 gold
Rare – 16 essence and approx. 14 gold
Epic – 30 essence and approx. 23 gold
Legendary – 44 essence and approx. 53 goldEternal – 70 essence and approx. 76 gold
Pro tip: always use the guaranteed chance of success as it is the one that pays off the most. You cannot upgrade the rarity level in this game.
Crafting
To craft anything in Dungeons of Sundaria, you will need fragments. Fragments come in 3 forms:
Raw fragments,
Normal fragments,
Elite fragments.
When it comes to raw and normal fragments, they are found everywhere in the game. This means they are not that difficult to obtain.
Elite fragments on the other hand are found ONLY in the Nightmare difficulty setting and they only drop from specific bosses.
Fragments themselves can be converted into a higher tier level. So it goes Raw fragments > Normal fragments(Elite fragments cannot be obtained in this way). They can then be used to research various blueprints at Kadrick’s for different pieces of equipment and/or weapons.
All normal /elite recipes give the same stats and pull from the same ability pool when crafting them.
Crafting Gear
One of the most popular questions when it comes to Dungeons of Sundaria is when to craft your gear. After doing some research (going to your local wiki page and searching for the keywords) we’ve estimated that the best moment to craft any piece of gear is when you reach level 15 in the game.
The reason for this is quite simple. Once you reach level 15, you will be able to upgrade gear to its max. level. Before that, you are not able to do that, hence why it doesn’t pay off to do it.
Star Levels
Star level is indicated on your character page where you see your items. The number of stars is determined by the rarity of your item and it can go up to 5 stars. In the most basic of terms, the more stars an item has, the more its stats will go up. Quick maths!
Going late in the game to level up your stars is the way to go. Leveling stars is vital to your success in this game. To do it, you’ll need 3 things:
Magical cores,
Lots of essences,
Bill Gates amounts of gold.
In the table below you can find the costs for each star level:
Star lvl 1
100 essence
1 magical core
1 platinum
Star lvl 2
175 essence
3 magical cores
3 platinum
Star lvl 3
250 essence
5 magical cores
5 platinum
Star lvl 4
325 essence
7 magical cores
10 platinum
Star lvl 5
400 essence
10 magical cores
25 platinum
Please note that we highly recommend upgrading star levels on Eternal level gear only.
Magical Cores
Magical cores can be obtained in 2 different ways.
Your first option is to defeat the final boss of each dungeon. In this case, 1 magical core is guaranteed. Note that regular bosses can sometimes drop magical cores as well.
The second option, the less likely one, comes from the Chest of the Seven.
Gweyir Dorra
Once you gather all of the aforementioned items, you will need to head to Gweyir Dorra for further upgrades. At her stall, you can attempt to upgrade your items to the max. level, just hit the upgrade button and you’re all set!
