Update 2.1 isn’t just adding new gameplay content to Cyberpunk 2077, it’s also adding new easter eggs to find such as the Sad Keanu easter egg. To get a complete picture of all the secrets and new content added in this patch, check out our update 2.1 complete guide and overview.
This little easter egg is a throwback to a popular meme that involved Johnny Silverhand’s actor, Keanu Reeves. In this article, we’ll tell you about this easter egg and how to encounter it.
Johnny Silverhand (Keanu Reeves) Sad Easter Egg
One of the new additions to Cyberpunk 2077’s Update 2.1 is the metro system.
This was originally intended to be in the game at launch, but we all know that the game had a… rocky launch, to say the least.
Due to that, there was some in-game excuse about V’s NCART City Pass causing trouble. As such, you weren’t allowed to ride the metro at all, no matter what!
It seems that V has finally managed to fix whatever the issue with their NCART City Pass was, though.
Now, you can ride the metro to travel to any of the 19 stations spread throughout the city!
More interestingly, there’s one unique easter egg in the metro that calls back to a popular meme involving Keanu Reeves.
As we’re sure you know, Keanu Reeves plays the character of Johnny Silverhand in Cyberpunk 2077.
Anytime you take a ride in the metro system, Johnny Silverhand might appear sitting in one of the train’s seats. He will seem dejected and sad, but he’s also accompanied by a pigeon.
This is all in V’s mind, of course, as is usually the case in this game.
This encounter is completely random, too, so there’s no specific way to trigger it.
For those unaware, this is a throwback to the popular “Sad Keanu” meme. The original meme photo showed Keanu Reeves himself sitting on a bench, surrounded by pigeons, but seemingly sad.
Johnny Silverhand is even holding a sandwich, just like his real-life counterpart was in the meme!
There’s nothing to do with this little easter egg, but it’s fun to see a reference to a meme that is quite old by now.
Venezuelan gamer cursed by being interested by most games, resulting in a ridiculous backlog he’ll never be able to conquer. Been gaming for over two decades now! Few things exemplify his wide variety in gaming tastes as the fact that he’s a big fan of both Souls games and the Atelier series at the same time. Also a big fan of Yakuza/Like a Dragon, Deadly Premonition, Zero Escape, and Dead Rising, among others. Considers Lost Judgment and Sekiro to both be masterpieces.
