Connecting a PS4 controller to a phone is an easy process. The connection between the PS4 controller and your phone happens via Bluetooth.

You need to have a working PS4 controller and a proper Android or iPhone with functional Bluetooth for the pairing to go through.

There is also an option where you can use the wired connection as well. So, you can connect your phone to the PS4 in both ways – wireless and wirelessly.

Is it Possible to Connect PS4 Controller to Android and iPhone?

In short, yes! It is possible. But there are multiple ways to do it.

There are enough compatible games in the Android and Apple play stores that can be played via a PS4 Controller. Not everyone is comfortable with tapping on the buttons of a phone’s small screens so that is where a PS4 controller comes in handy.

With a PS4 controller, you will be able to play any genre of games on your phone – Action, Racing, Tactical, and more.

The control and ease that a PS4 controller provides are unmatchable and that is why you use a controller even on your phone to play certain games.

There are two ways you can connect your PS4 controller to your phone – Wirelessly and Wired. We will show both methods step-by-step to make it easier for you to connect both devices.

Wirelessly

  1. Turn on the Bluetooth on your phone, either by sliding down the screen or by doing it from Settings. If the toggle is off, then turn it on.
  1. Press the Share button and the PS button simultaneously on your PS4 controller for a good few seconds until the blue light on the back of the controller starts throbbing. That means the controller is now discoverable to all Bluetooth devices.
  1. On your phone, search for the “Wireless Controller” on the available devices in the Bluetooth settings. If not discovered, then refresh the search and go again. It may take a few attempts to connect the devices but that’s okay.
  1. Click on the “Wireless Controller” and the phone will pop the “Pair with the Wireless Controller” question on the screen. Press “Pair” for confirmation.
  1. Your devices are now connected and ready to use!

Wired

For a wired connection you will need a USB adapter, a USB-A to USB-C (most Android devices has this port currently) adapter that will allow your PS4 controller to connect with your phone.

  1. Connect the USB-A wire (the default wire you get with your PS4) to your PS4 controller.
  2. Connect the other end to the adapter.
  3. Connect the adapter’s USB-C cable to your phone.
  4. Viola! Your phone is now connected to the PS4 controller.

The main benefit of having a wired connection between the PS4 controller and the phone is that you will not get any interferences to your connection as it is a wired connection.

While the one big drawback is that once your controller battery starts to drain then you will have to take out the connection to charge your battery and that will remove your connection.
