Grounded: How to Unlock and Craft Upgrade Materials | Whetstones and Plates

The full release of Grounded got players excited. The game’s complete story with voice acting will finally be accessible. Its two-year early access period has finally ended, but don’t worry—all of your stuff, recipes, bases, and unlocks will transfer over to the updated version. However, the story quests for every player will sadly reset.

How to Unlock and Craft Upgrade Materials, Whetstones and Plates in Grounded

Get the Smithing Station at the Science Shop first, then upgrade your whetstones and platings afterward. After speaking with BURG. L, you can purchase the Smithing Station from the Science Shop by heading to the Advanced System Library and selecting it.

Using the Smithing Station, you can access the Brittle Whetstone and the Brittle Plating.

Upgrading the Whetstone and Plating

You can unlock these upgrade if you visit every base until the Black Ant Lab. To earn the Super BURG. L Chip and the Assistant Manager Keycard, you must defeat the Assistant Manager.

Now that Advance Smithing is unlocked, Sturdy Plating and Sturdy Whetstone will also be available. The Mighty Glob can be used to give your tools extra effects as well. The Brittle Whetstone and Brittle Plating can now be made in the oven.

When you purchase the Stump BURG. L Chip, you can gain the Advanced Smithing: Mighty Jewel. By doing so, the tier 3 Supreme Plating and Supreme Whetstone become available. The tier 2 Sturdy Plating and Sturdy Whetstone can now be made in the oven.

The Sunken Rotten Tree Lab, a recently constructed facility in the upper garden, is where you can acquire the Stump BURG. L Chip.
