Throne & Liberty: Best PVP Melee Weapon Combination Tier List

Be the most threatening CQC fighter in the battlefield!

The global version of Throne & Liberty is inching ever so closer to release, and those who forked up some extra dough can already play it on early access. With a lot of veterans coming in from the servers that already had the game in the past, there’s already a lot of testing done when it comes to which weapons are ideal. In this tier list, we’ll go over the best melee weapon combos specifically for PVP!

Best PVP Melee Weapon Combination Tier List

Before we get started, we should point out that this list will include ranged weapons, but mainly as a secondary for various forms of utility or supplementary damage rather than as a main damage dealing tool. Just keep that in mind so you don’t get surprised by some of the entries here.

Also, as with any other tier list, this is going to be purely subjective and you are free to disagree if your favorite combos aren’t rated highly. At the end of the day, player skill and gear will still be a major factor in your success. Additionally, changing some important settings in Throne & Liberty may make you an overall better player too.

Now, without further ado, let’s go over the best (and worst) combinations for melee users who want to participate in the different PVP activities of the game!

Throne & Liberty pvp melee weapon combo tier list

S Tier

  • Greastsword + Daggers – Needless to say, this combination is the one that leans in to the whole “melee DPS” archetype the most. This setup is the choice for those who are looking for a melee assassin class, and it probably won’t drop out of the meta anytime soon.
  • Daggers + Crossbow – This one is pretty good in small scale PVP, but for masses, you’re going to need some very specific gear pieces to make it work. Since it generally works well in most cases, it gets to sit comfortably up in this tier.

A Tier

  • Daggers + Wand & Tome – Although not necessarily the best damage dealing combo for melee users, this one is pretty high up there in terms of DPS. On top of that, you also have some decent sustain, which can come in clutch in small scale PVP combat. You can even transition into an almost fully support-oriented setup if you want.
  • Daggers + Sword & Shield – This combo is pretty solid overall, but it is mainly used for tanking. If you’re looking for a more DPS-oriented melee setup, there are better options both above and in the same category as this.
  • Sword & Shield + Wand & Tome – We might be cheating a bit here, cause this one is actually pretty decent but you are going to find yourself using the wand & tome for damage than the actual melee weapon. It kind of counts though, since you’re going to be fighting up close and personal with this.
  • Sword & Shield + Greatsword – This combination is particularly good for most forms of PVP because it basically makes you a tanky bruiser. It falls off in large scale PVP because the tankiness barely matters in that context with all of the zergs running around, so you may as well be maximizing your damage output.

B Tier

  • Daggers + Longbow – The idea behind this combo is that it lets you play around either melee or ranged evasion. Basically, it just gives you an option to deal burst damage from varying distances or some more sustained DPS up close.
  • Daggers + Staff – This combo can be pretty powerful in the right hands, but it falls off in larger scale combat. For small scale PVP, though, never underestimate this combo.
  • Greatsword + Wand & Tome – The same logic with the combo above (Daggers + Staff) applies here. It isn’t the most optimal setup ever, but it can be pretty good in small scale PVP if you’re really dedicated to using it.

C Tier

  • Sword & Shield + Staff – This is combo is just “meh” for the average player, but you will be an annoyingly tanky target by virtue of using the sword & shield. It isn’t the most practical, nor is it great. It is just a funny way to flex on people.
  • Sword & Shield + Longbow – This one, along with the two other entries below it, are okay when used in small scale PVP, especially in 1 on 1 fights. These combos are just completely outclassed by everything above at the moment, so you might not want to use them.
  • Sword & Shield + Crossbow
  • Greatsword + Crossbow

D Tier

For the combos in this tier, there won’t really be any explanation provided. Just avoid them for PVP in their current state. Some of these might have some very niche uses, but compared to all of the other options prior to these, you can do so much better.

  • Greatsword + Staff
  • Greatsword + Longbow

And that concludes this tier list, which hopefully gives you a general idea of what combos to be aiming for if you are planning on doing a lot of PVP. If you are more of a tank player and need some help figuring out what to use for that role, check out our tier list for tank combinations in both PVE and PVP instead, since that will be heavily focused on just the sword & shield!
