With so many weapons to pick from, it can be hard to tell what the best weapons in Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 are without a tier list.

From the iconic Chainsword to the brutal Multi-Melta, Space Marine 2 has quite a fantastic variety of weapon types. How powerful they are is just as varied, though! Some weapons in this game are surprisingly strong when compared to everything else.

In this article, we’ll give you our tier list of the best weapons in Space Marine 2 while we explain our reasoning.

Best Weapons Tier List | Space Marine 2

Space Marine 2 - Best Weapons Tier List | Warhammer 40K
  • S Tier – Multi-Melta, Melta Rifle, Bolt Pistol, Thunderhammer, Combat Knife
  • A Tier – Power Sword, Stalker Bolt Rifle, Las Fusil, Sniper Bolt Rifle, Bolt Carbine, Plasma Incinerator, Plasma Pistol, Bolt Rifle
  • B Tier – Chainsword, Power Fist, Heavy Bolt Pistol, Instigator Bolt Carbine
  • C Tier – Heavy Plasma Incinerator, Heavy Bolter, Heavy Bolt Rifle
  • D Tier – Occulus Bolt Carbine, Auto Bolt Rifle

Now, let’s explain some of our most important choices and considerations for this tier list.

Multi-Melta in gameplay

Starting with the S Tier, you’ll notice that both the Multi-Melta and Melta Rifle earned a spot. This is in large part due to the massive sustain potential they provide. Firing these bad boys into a group of enemies when you have Contested Health usually results in you healing far beyond your Contested Health. Whether this is a bug or not is unknown, but there’s no denying that this can currently make you nearly invincible!

Space Marine 2 Bolt Pistol

As for the humble Bolt Pistol following them, there’s one main reason for its placement: it’s shared across all classes. This might not matter much to those of you who pick a single class and stick to it, though. However, for those who do play various classes, this means you get to keep your fully upgraded Bolt Pistol whenever you play a different class. It can help lessen the grind as you upgrade your main weapons.

The Thunderhammer we’ve placed high up due to its massive damage output potential, as exemplified by our max level Assault class build. On the other hand, the Combat Knife is high up due to its ease of use. You can basically swing it wildly and win while only stopping to land Perfect Parries!

Reasoning for the Other Tiers

Space Marine 2 Bolt Rifle

When it comes to our picks of A tier, you’ve got a lot of fantastic weapons to pick from. The only reason these weapons aren’t in the S Tier is simply because they lack a bit more power or versatility. For example, both the Las Fusil and Sniper Bolt Rifle are fantastic at taking out single high-priority threats. On the other hand, they are very lacking when dealing with larger groups.

In the B tier, we have weapons that are a tad more niche, such as the Heavy Bolt Pistol and Instigator Bolt Rifle. It does break our heart a bit to place the Chainsword here as well. After all, it’s one of the most iconic weapons in Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, so we wish it was in our best tier. However, it’s just not quite powerful enough to make it to the S or A tier.

Space Marine 2 Auto Bolt Rifle

As for the C, it’s reserved for weapons that are simply outshined by others. As you might notice, C tier entirely consists of almost all of the Heavy’s weapons. They are just inferior to the insanely powerful Multi-Melta, even if they aren’t truly bad on their own terms.

For D tier, we just simply feel that the Occulus Bolt Carbine and Auto Bolt Rifle are very weak compared to other similar weapons. Simply put, there’s not much reason to pick the Occulus Bolt Carbine over the Melta Rifle or the Auto Bolt Rifle over… most of the other Tactical class weapons, frankly!

But well, that’s the end of our explanation for our best weapons tier list in Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2. If you’re curious, we also have a tier list on what the best classes are for Space Marine 2 PvP!
