There are currently five playable characters in Death Must Die – that is until the Q1 update early 2024 introduces another ranged character in the form of an archer.
Each character has their own unique playstyle, attack speed and defensive capabilities. This Tier list will break down which of these characters are the best and which ones make for a harder run.
It is worth noting the differences between many of the characters in Death Must Die are minimal, with none of them being truly awful!
Best Character Tier List
S Tier – Kront, Nixi
A Tier – Skadi, Merris
B Tier – Avoron
S-Tier
In our S Tier we have the strongest characters in the game.
Kront is a barbarian character who wields an axe. He has the best defensive capabilities in the game due to his heavy armor proficiency and can deal enormous damage hits to his enemies.
Kront is one of the easiest ways to make it to the late game, outliving most bosses and hordes easily.
We also have Nixi in S-Tier. Not as strong as Kront yet her attacks still have a decent range even though they are just daggers. Nixi is an assassin class, meaning that her defence is low but her attack speed is the best in the game.
As Nixi you’ll be able to dodge and outrun pretty much all your enemies! You can check out our Complete Guide to Nixi here.
A-Tier
In A-Tier we have the characters that can easily get you a completed run, but simply aren’t as effective as our S-Tier characters.
To begin we have Skadi, a Greatsword wielding warrior. Skadi is perhaps the most versatile in the game, being a perfect balance between Kront and Nixi. She has a wide sweeping heavy attack with her Sword and fast movement speed due to her lighter armour.
Blessings and boons are key to her build if you want to survive the late game encounters. You can check out our Complete Guide to Skadihere.
We also have Merris in A-Tier. She is the only ranged character capable of throwing balls of magic from afar.
There is a certain skill to creating a strong build with this character, her defense is low, and she isn’t the quickest.
However, when mastered, she offers the most unique and enjoyable gameplay challenge. With the correct blessings she can make an easy run with no hits! You can check ourComplete Guide to Merris here.
B-Tier
Oh Dear, Avoron is looking rather lonely in the B-Tier. On paper, this sword wielding Knight is a pretty solid choice for making a late game build, but his gameplay is just boring. He is basically a weaker version of Kront!
It’s better to just play as a stronger or more unique character rather pick Avoron, but of course opinions differ! Experiment and see which character works for you!
