The Runes of Aldur league mechanic in Path of Exile 2 introduces players to the new runeforging system. With this system, you can use a resource called Verisium to enhance your equipment and add Runic Ward to your defenses.
Aside from that, you also gain access to a bunch of new crafting materials. One of them comes in the form of Alloys. However, you need to unlock the ability to farm them first.
That’s exactly what we’ll cover in this guide. Let’s get started.
All Act 2 Region Runestones Locations to Unlock Alloys in Path of Exile 2
To start dropping Alloys during a Runes of Aldur encounter, you first need to unlock them by learning their associated Runic Knowledge. This is done by doing Farrow’s questline and locating Runestones in Act 2.
There are a total of three locations you need to visit.

The first location is The Bone Pits, which you can access via the Mastodon Badlands. Since the layout of the map changes every instance, your location might not be the same as mine.
In my main character, the Runestone spawned close to the entrance. This one, however, spawned a bit far away. As such, I recommend you explore the entire area until you come across one.

The next location is Keth. This time, you want to look for a buried giant arm in the sand. The area is a bit huge, so you’ll have to scour it for a bit until you find it. Mine spawned just a short distance from the waypoint to the right.

The third Runestone can be located in Deshar. Just like in Keth, the Runestone is on a buried giant arm. This one didn’t take too long to find as it was just a short distance north of the waystone.
After locating all three Runestones, you will unlock the Skull of the Titan. Use the Desert Map on the Caravan to steer toward the direction of the Skull of the Titan. Once you get there, look for the Cave Mouth entrance, then simply progress through the area until you reach the entrance to a Runic Vault.
Unlocking the Alloys
Enter the Runic Vault while dealing with the enemies inside. Keep heading straight until you find a pool of Verisium. Summon Farrow to complete the quest and finally unlock the Alloys.
You can then click on the nearby chest to get your first Alloy drops.

What exactly do these Alloys do?
Well, when used on a Rare item, they will randomly remove one of its modifiers and replace it with a new guaranteed modifier. This guaranteed modifier will depend on the Alloy as well as the Rare item you’re using it on.
For example, the Expansive Alloy grants increased Presence Area of Effect when used on a body armor. Meanwhile, the Runic Alloy grants a certain amount of Runic Ward to a ring.
There’s a total of 13 Alloys in the game. It will be up to you to use and experiment with them depending on which modifiers you need for your build.
Hopefully, this guide for unlocking Alloys in Path of Exile 2 has helped you out. It can take a bit of time looking for the Runestones in Act 2 considering the layout varies. Still, as long as you explore the aforementioned maps, you should be able to encounter them.
