With Throne & Liberty about to come out for western audiences, there will be a lot of new players flooding in, just like you. If you are going to be checking the game out through either the PS5 or Xbox Series X/S, then read on, as we have a few tips on how you can tweak the in-game settings for a smoother experience on console!

Best Settings & Controls for CONSOLE

Before we get started, do take note that the majority of these settings, if not all of them, are going to be purely subjective. Since we are covering the console version, there aren’t really any graphics settings to tweak for better performance.

With that said, there are still a few settings that are almost universally considered to be plain disruptive, so let’s get started with those first!

Gameplay Settings

Under the “Gameplay” category of the Settings menu, scroll down to the Camera sub section. Here, you will find the Camera Shake line. By default, shake effects are turned on, and you will want to shut this off by unchecking the box.

Even on PC, this setting will occasionally throw off your aim and is largely pointless to have on unless you believe that it contributes to your immersion.

Control Settings

By default, the right bumper will be your basic attack. Depending on your grip or preferences, you might want to swap this over with X / A for ease of use.

Just keep in mind that doing this will make it harder to aim and attack at the same time, since you will need to let go of the right analog stick whenever you want to hit a basic move. With a claw grip, it will be doable, but not everybody is comfortable that.

Finally, you might also want to adjust your skill preset controls. The default is that the first skill preset is set to hold right bumper. Personally, it makes more sense to have it set to left trigger instead, though you will need to shift some other controls around as well if you do that.

As a closing note, just in case you stumbled into this looking for controller-related help, the settings related to it will also apply to PC players who prefer to play with a gamepad. The options will pretty much be the same, and I have personally tried it for a bit just to be sure.

Also, many have reported that there is very limited keyboard + mouse support for console. Very few have reported that they could set keybinds, but many have mentioned that is incredibly buggy and does not even change the UI. Use such peripherals at your own risk.

Before you go, if you are playing with a group of friends and are spread out due to server limitations, you should head over to our guide on how to transfer servers in Throne & Liberty. This function is free for a few weeks after the global release!

Franco is a writer and avid gamer who spends a lot of his free time looking for the next obscure indie roguelike to add to his collection. If he’s not busy working or writing on his personal blog, there’s also a non-zero chance that you stumble into him in pretty much any multiplayer game that has SEA or OCE servers. He’s pretty good at anything unless it’s a fighting game, in which case you’d probably body him.
