The Lucky Horseshoe is a unique accessory you can find in Terraria. It allows you to completely negate fall damage, making it very useful when exploring chasms and caves.
Finding it might take a bit of work, however. But worry not, as we created this guide to teach you how you can get your hands on the Lucky Horseshoe.
Where to Find the Lucky Horseshoe in Terraria
You can only find Lucky Horseshoes exclusively inside Sky Chests. These chests are primarily found within Sky Islands, also known as Floating Islands.
Sky Islands are small landmass that appears at top of your world in the sky. Their name is very self-explanatory!
This means you’ll need a way to reach the skies. This can be done with flying mounts or Gravitation Potions, for example. You can also just make pillars using hundreds of dirt blocks if you want.
Finding a Sky Island in your world will require a bit of exploration. Just make sure to explore the sky thoroughly and you should eventually spot them. It’s recommended to be about 500 blocks high.
Additionally, there’s one little trick to spotting them which involves the use of puddles!
If you see a random small puddle of water on the ground level, a Sky Island is likely right above you. This is because Sky Islands cause some water to fall into the ground below.
This doesn’t apply in the Jungle biome, however, as it has puddles forming naturally. Also, not all Sky Islands will cause puddles to form.
Still, this is a nice trick that can make finding these structures easier.
Alternatively, you can just use a world seed to generate a world with a known Sky Island and Lucky Horseshoe location. This is much quicker and easier than exploring an unknown world.
If you wish to use a seed, read on and we’ll tell you known seeds for the current versions of the game!
Lucky Horseshoe Seed for Terraria 1.4.4.9 on PC
Before we start, note that this seed is only known to work in the 1.4.4.9 version of the game. It’s possible it won’t work the same if the game gets updated.
Go back to the game’s main menu and create a new world. Below the world’s name, find the Seed. Click on it and paste this seed into the text input: 1.4.1.991789154
Confirm and then select the world’s difficulty. Note that Journey characters won’t be able to join a non-Journey world!
After the world is created, choose your character and then play on the new world!
From the start, keep heading right. You want to reach the Corruption biome which has purple plant life.
Once in the Corruption, look for a cave that looks like a dirt tunnel, as shown in the picture above. Stand on top of this tunnel on the rightmost edge.
Now, all you need to do is go up to the sky! Use dirt blocks, Gravitation Potions, a flying mount, or anything you like.
As soon as you get high enough, you’ll spot a Sky Island to your right. Just enter the house and loot the chest to find a Lucky Horseshoe inside.
Lucky Horseshoe Seed for Terraria 1.4.4.5 on Mobile and Consoles
Much like the seed for the PC version, note that this is only known to work on version 1.4.4.5 of Terraria on mobile platforms and old-gen consoles. It might stop working when the game is updated!
Open the game’s main menu and create a new world. Set world size to Small and Corruption as the world’s “Evil”. Also, pick the difficulty.
Lastly, set the world’s seed to the following: 117522986
Now load up this new world with your character. As soon as you spawn, start heading to the right until you reach the Jungle biome.
When you reach the Jungle, find the large hole with a puddle at the bottom. It’s around 2720 blocks east as shown in the picture above.
Now, all that’s left to do is to head up to the sky by any means possible. You’ll find a Sky Island when you’re high enough. The chest inside the house has the Lucky Horseshoe you seek.
