Village chief Mendez was one of the most intimidating and spookiest bosses of the franchise to date. His eyes alone were enough to not let you sleep at night.
Nonetheless, if you have played the remake, then you know that all the cutscenes before facing Mendez led to him eventually. This even includes the stage that we will be talking about!
There is a part where you have to run away from Mendez along with Ashley. This guide will show you how to do so
How to Run Away from Mendez in Resident Evil 4 Remake
Running away from Mendez with Ashley is challenging considering the whole of the village is out to get you. Anyway, you can use the following tips to navigate a safe escape:
Reserve Your Ammo
Ammo is of the utmost importance in this game. You can’t just run around and spray bullets along the way.
You only have limited ammo, and while you can get some from the surroundings, this is not sustainable. Instead, you have to make a run for it as fast as you can.
As you make your way through the hordes of villagers, make sure you only use your ammo against the villagers who are blocking your way.
Don’t waste your bullets on villagers who are far away and have no chance to affect you. Using up your bullets would not only be detrimental for this stage but also in the boss fight later.
Know the Map
Before you start running, quickly take a look at the map. See where you must go and map out your escape. Knowing where you should go is important.
If you run around like a headless chicken, then you will either end up dead or wasting your precious ammo.
Use the Right Gun
Our choice for this stage would be an SMG. You are going to face the continuous threat of the villagers every step of the way. So instead of using a shotgun or a handgun which would eat up valuable time in reloading, an SMG will do the job just fine.
While you can’t spray bullets and shells of a handgun and shotgun respectively, you can at least spray the whole magazine of the SMG if you get surrounded by the villagers.
Using the right weapon is one of the most important tactical aspects of this escape.
Use the Surroundings and Keep Ashley Close
Keeping Ashley close and safe is part of your objective in this scary stage. Keep one eye on her and the other upfront.
Don’t let the villagers get hold of Ashley before you cross the bridge. She doesn’t have a weapon or any skills to save herself, so you are the only hope for her.
When moving through the village, use the surroundings like the exploding barrels. Shooting them will make the barrels explode which will not only kill the villagers that are beside them but also give you valuable time and space to keep moving.
Look out for those barrels and use them to your advantage!
