Shedinja’s Shiny variant was newly released in Pokemon Go on October 1st. Nincada and Ninjask’s Shiny versions were already made available two years prior. In Pokemon Go, Shedinja is a rare pokemon that cannot be found in the wild.
You will never be able to encounter a Shedinja, not even in areas where bug types typically exist or when using incense. A research breakthrough must be completed to get a Shedinja.
How to Get Shiny Shedinja in Pokemon Go
In other Pokemon games, you had to evolve Nincada into Ninjask to get a Shedinja. In addition, you have an additional Pokeball in your equipment bag and a vacant spot on your team. The Ninjask and Shedinja produced when you evolve a Shiny Nincada will also be shiny.
This is not the case in Pokemon Go. A Shiny Nincada cannot turn into a Shiny Shedinja. A Shiny Shedinja is only accessible through a Research Breakthrough.
Obtaining a Shiny Shedinja
You will receive a Field Research task each day in Pokemon Go. You receive a stamp for completing each one, and obtaining 7 stamps unlocks a Research Breakthrough. A very rare or legendary Pokemon may appear in the Research Breakthrough.
Pokemon Go users will be able to find a Shiny Shedinja in October. A Shedinja will always appear after achieving a Research Breakthrough. It won’t, however, be a guaranteed Shiny. It might take a few Research Breakthroughs, but it will continue through October 31.
Start finishing your fieldwork and keep your fingers crossed that when you make a research breakthrough, a Shiny Shedinja will appear.
