Minecraft’s 1.19 Wild Update introduced many new features, many of which revolve around the Deep Dark biome.

This eerie place generates deep beneath, as its name implies, and is most known for the massive yet uncommon Ancient Cities it holds. However, Ancient Cities are pretty hard to find because of their rarity.

How to Find Ancient City Fast in Minecraft

Ancient Cities are a new form of structure found in the Deep Dark. Because Ancient Cities are extremely rare, not every Deep Dark biome will have one.

Furthermore, because they are underground, they are challenging to locate. You won’t know you’ve come upon an Ancient City until you’re standing in it.

Locating Ancient City

The easiest way to access an Ancient City is by enabling Cheats. To get the Ancient City’s location, use the /locate command.

If you have the Java edition, press T, then type in /locate structure minecraft:ancient city, or /locate ancient city if you have the Bedrock edition.

But, if you don’t want to use cheats, the following methods can help you locate an Ancient City:

  • Look under massive mountains: Mountains only happen when there’s a high erosion rate; thus, there’s a possibility an Ancient City is located underneath.
  • Strip Mining: Mining in the correct location can make you come across an Ancient City. However, this method needs a lot of patience, so only do this if you’re also farming for diamonds to outweigh the cons.
  • Deep Dark Biomes: Ancient Cities are generated by Deep Dark Biomes. Not all Deep Dark Biomes have Ancient Cities, but this method has the highest chance of finding one. Deep Dark biomes appear around Y level -52, so go there and begin mining or caving until you see Sculk.
