It’s no secret that the world of Dead Island 2 is huge. There are lots of areas to discover, tons of points of interest to check out, and a whole lot more.
Obviously, as you progress through the game’s main storyline, you’ll eventually come to realize that getting to one point in the map from another can be rather tedious if done manually. Luckily, there’s a fast travel system in the game for that!
But to use it, you have to unlock the fast travel system first. This guide will show you how to do it.
Getting Access to the Fast Travel System in Dead Island
In a rather odd choice, the devs decided that Dead Island 2’s world won’t be a fully connected one. So if you’re expecting a fully connected open world when you play the game, you might be disappointed.
That said, you will have to travel to individual zones which have loading screens in between them. This leads a lot of players to think that a feature such as fast travel doesn’t exist. Luckily, there actually is!
Unfortunately, there’s a limitation as you won’t be able to travel from one location to another as quickly as you would with other games.
With that out of the way, you need to first reach Venice Beach which is part of the story quest called The Giant-Slayer. This area is one of the ten locations throughout the game.
Once you get there, all you have to do is complete the quest we mentioned. You can then unlock the ability to fast travel after that.
How to Use the Fast Travel System
As we mentioned earlier, there’s a limitation to the game’s fast travel mechanic.
Unlike other games where you just open your map and select the location you want to fast travel to, Dead Island 2’s system is a bit different.
Instead, you first need to head inside a nearby safe house. After that, you then have to look for a literal fast travel map lying on top of a table.
Interact with the map to open the fast travel menu. Once you’re done, simply select which location you want to fast travel to.
You also have the option to decide whether you want to reach there by day or night.
After selecting your destination, you’ll then arrive there after the loading screen. However, do keep in mind that you can only fast travel to locations you have already unlocked.
