There are several types of resources you will encounter as you play Stardew Valley. Each of them serves a specific purpose, and as far as crafting goes, iron is one that you should definitely get your hands on.

Basically, you’ll need lots of it to craft various tools and upgrade them to the Steel tier. This is just one of its many uses, however.

You get iron in the game from ores which you have to break using a pickaxe. On average, you will get around 1-3 ores per node. Of course, you can boost your gathering output by taking the Miner profession.

That said, there are several locations where you can find an abundant supply of iron nodes. Our favorite spot would be the mines, specifically on floors 41 to 79.

These floors will contain a ton of nodes that you can mine to get tons of iron ores. You can easily distinguish them by their gray or blue color with gray iron pieces sticking out of them.

You can also break crates and barrels within the mines. Each of them has a chance of dropping iron ores.

Alternatively, some monsters within the mine have a chance of dropping them as well. These include monsters like Metal Heads, Iron Slimes, Dust Sprites, and Stone Golems.

Once you have gathered enough iron ores, you can proceed to smelt them in your furnace. Smelting five iron ores will net you one Iron Bar.

You can then use Iron Bars to craft a wide variety of items. Here are some good examples:

  • Warrior Ring
  • Explosive Ammo
  • Worm Bin
  • Magnet
  • Recycling Machine
  • Crab Pot

These are just a few of the many items you can make using iron bars. Of course, you also have the option to sell your Iron Bars for 120g.

This is a good way to make some gold for emergency expenses.
