Cassette Beasts may look like just another Pokémon clone at first, but when you examine the game’s unique evolution system (or remastering system), the difference is clear.

In this guide, you’re going to learn how to remaster your cassette tapes and how to use this branched evolution system to rule over New Wirral.

Evolution Guide To Remaster Your Cassette Beasts Tapes

When it comes to the evolution mechanic in Cassette Beasts, it’s not exactly a complicated process. It is, however, deeper than you may first think. It’s more than just hitting a certain level and calling it a day.

Each cassette has the potential of hitting 5 stars (the maximum level). This star rating is separate from the trainer level.

You’ll gain access to more stickers for your tapes each time you level up your star rating. Even more important for this guide, if you can get five stars on a cassette, you’ll get the opportunity to remaster it, as long as there’s an evolution available.

How do you level up your stars? It’s easy:

  • Battling
  • Completing Quests
  • Anything that nets you XP during normal play

To help you track where each cassette is evolution-wise, you can see the cassette’s star level on the level-up screen.

Once your cassette has five stars, you can select it to remaster it.

Your Remastering Options

In many cases, you’ll have two options when it comes to remastering the cassette. For example, you can choose:

  • Ascend to the afterlife to create a pure version of the beast.
  • Return to the earth to create a dark version of the beast.

Keep in mind that this selection window only appears when you choose to rest at a campfire or a cafe.

You can also upgrade your stars by using the upside-down grape item called the Upgrape. These items work a lot like rare candies would in Pokémon games and will up your star rating by one.

Also, you won’t be able to buy Upgrapes. You’ll have to find them in the world.

To sum up, if you want the best beasts on the block, raise those stars and then remaster those tapes!
