XDefiant: How to Unlock Dedsec Faction

XDefiant is a free-to-play first-person shooter game recently released by Ubisoft on May 21, 2024. This game features characters from several  Ubisoft franchises such as Ghost Recon and The Division, and each Faction is representative of one of these franchises.

XDefiant has launched with 5 playable Factions – Libertad, Phantoms, Echelon, Cleaners, and DedSec. Although, only the first 4 are available to play when you first start the game. The DedSec Faction of Watch Dogs 2 will have to be unlocked by the player.

The DedSec Faction is comprised of hackers who are equipped with an Ultra, two activated abilities, and a passive trait. Combining these 4 skills effectively will make opposing strategies ineffective against you and put you in a position to devastatingly counter them. To be able to do all of this though, you will first need to unlock DedSec.

How to Unlock Dedsec Faction

There are two ways in which you can unlock the DedSec Faction in XDefiant.

The first way of unlocking it is by completing the DedSec major challenge. Head on over to the challenges section on your main menu and switch to the Major tab. Here you will see the DedSec challenge which requires you to earn 700,000 XP in order to clear it. This is a significant amount and may take up to 30 hours to complete. However, You can achieve this relatively quickly by getting a high number of kills each game and doing your daily challenges consistently.

Besides completing the major challenge, Deadsec can also be unlocked by purchasing it with XCoins and instantly gaining access to it, entirely avoiding the high XP requirement. There are 2 purchase options available to you:

DedSec Faction – Unlock Sebastian and the DedSec Faction – 1,000 XCoins

Game Over Sebastian – Unlock DedSec Faction, all DedSec characters, DedSec player card, Game Over Sebastian and P90 skins – 2,500 XCoins

XCoins are the game’s premium currency which can only be purchased with real money. Other than buying the 2 bundles, you can use the currency to buy tons of other items or cosmetics.

On another note, consider unlocking the TAC-50 for some slight advantage over your enemies!

Dedsec Faction Skills

DedSec’s Ultra ability is Lockout, which enables you to nullify the enemies’ HUD, minimap, and abilities. Unsurprisingly, the ability does have a certain range, so you will need to time it well. 

Its two activated abilities are Hijack and Spiderbot. Hijack gives you the ability to hack enemy deployed abilities and use them for yourself. Spiderbot allows you to deploy a spider bot that will seek out and stun the nearest enemy target. Both of these abilities have the power to overwhelm your opponents and leave them helpless, giving you an easy clean-up job.

Lastly, the Faction also has the Fabricator Passive Trait which will aid you by printing a new device, after one is deployed. This will give you more resources to surprise and overcome your opponents.
