WoW War Within – The Last Mage of Hallowfall Questline Guide

In the plethora of quests available in the WoW – The War Within, you will eventually come across “The Last Mage of Hallowfall” questline.

This questline consists of five different quests which are closely related to the mage. During the first three quests, you will be assisting him in his experiments by basically being an errand boy. However, in the last two quests, you will be looking into his murder and later on avenging him. Talk about a cruel turn of events!

In this guide, I will provide information on how to complete all five quests. So, let’s begin!

Guide on The Last Mage of Hallowfall Questline

If you are looking for a specific quest in the questline then refer to the table given below. The quests are listed in the order they come up in the game and all of them take place in the Hallowfall.

The Last Mage

To start off the questline, first head to the Church of the Sacred Flame found in the Mereldar region of the Hallowfall. The exact coordinates you need to visit are 40.52 50.76. The church is also marked in the image below.

Once you arrive at the location and go inside the church, you will come across General Steelstrike. Interact with her and accept the quest.

Now you need to visit The Althal Lab located near Mereldar in the Hallowfall. The exact coordinates of the lab are 48.79 64.49. You can also check out the map given below for its location.

Inside the lab, you will find Wenren Althal who is going to be the main character of this questline. Interact with him to complete the first quest.

Afterwards, interact with Wenren Althal again and accept the second quest which is Arcane Trickles.

Arcane Trickles

The objective of this quest is to get 5 Arcane Suffused Organ which are needed by Wenren to complete his experiments. Arcane Suffused Organ are dropped by Strange Shore Crawler mobs. The drop chance for it is 44.45%.

You will find a lot of Strange Shore Crawlers roaming around these coordinates in the Hallowfall: 36.92 47.67.

Keep defeating them until you get 5 Arcane Suffused Organ. Once you do, head back to Wenren Althal and interact with him to complete the second quest.

After that, interact with Wenren Althal again and accept the third quest which is Arcane Experiments.

Arcane Experiments

Once you accept this quest, Wenren Althal will draw a large magic circle on the ground. At the three edges of the large circle will be small circles with magic nodes floating above them.

Your task here is to connect the three magic nodes with each other in the way shown in the image below. Simply interact with the node, go towards the other node’s circle and then interact with the circle to connect them. Do this for all the three nodes.

Once all the magic nodes are connected to each other, a portal will open up. Interact with the portal to go inside it.

You will be teleported to a different area in which you will have to defeat a Shadegrumble Bear. After doing so, interact with the portal two times in a row.

This time you will be teleported to an area where you will have to fight against a bunch of Wandering Stinger mobs. Once you defeat them, interact with the portal.

Now head back to the lab and when you get there, you will find Wenren Althal dead. Interact with his body that will be lying on the ground to mark the third quest complete.

You can accept the fourth quest called A Murder Most Foul by interacting with Wenren’s body again.

A Murder Most Foul

In this quest, you simply have to perform a short investigation. When you accept the quest, three items in the room will get highlighted. The three items are Burnt Research, Wenren’s Dead Body and the Smashed Accouterments . Interact with all three of these items one by one to investigate them.

Once your investigation is done, interact with Wenren’s body to finish the fourth quest.

Now it is time for the final quest of this little adventure of magic and death. Interact with Wenren’s body for the last time to accept the fifth quest called Finding Justice.

Finding Justice

Upon accepting this quest, a magical purple trail will appear on the ground. Follow this trail to reach Wenren’s killer.

The trail will lead you to the cottage shown below. The coordinates of this cottage are 46.06 64.39 in case you get lost. Go inside the cottage and confront Tefferty Ulreth about the murder of Wenren Althal. He will become hostile after you do this. Simply defeat him and avenge Wenren’s death.

Once you have dealt with Wenren’s killer, return to the Church of the Sacred Flame and interact with General Steelstrike to complete the quest. This will also unlock “The Last Mage of Hallowfall” achievement for you.
