The new Pearl map which was introduced in Patch 5.0 is actually the first map to be released for this year, 2022. Due to the length of time that it took for Valorant to introduce a new map, players can’t help but get excited about this entirely new area.

However, since it’s a completely new map, chances are you don’t know a lot about its layout. That said, this guide is here to help you. Let’s get started.

New Pearl Map Guide in Valorant Patch 5.0

As with any other Valorant map, the Pearl map uses the same names for callouts. So far, both A Dugout and A Flowers are where most of the team fights happen. Meanwhile, the Heaven, Screens, and Backsite on B are also good areas for callouts moving forward.

The map also has Double Doors that are similar to that of the Ascent and Breeze maps.

Playing as an Attacker

A close inspection of the map will allow you to tell that the map is attack-sided. This means that those from the attacking side can easily win most of their matches due to the layout of the map. The A site seems to be the easiest to take while you’re on the attacking side. Meanwhile, the B site is ideal for doing quick plants and falling back after.

Also, there are both the Dugout and Flowers on the A site which can provide a slight advantage to the attackers. In particular, the Dugout is a trench-like spot that has walls while Flowers has a small window to set up flanks.

The mid area of the map is quite small, though mid-control plays a really important role here. This is because controlling the mid area will let you win rounds more frequently since you can spit attacks without you and your team getting caught up in choke points.

In that sense, the mid area is a bit easier for the attacking side to control due to the team’s close proximity to the area’s entrance. On the other hand, the defending side will have to take a quick peek through the Double Doors just to gain control.

Playing as a Defender

Playing on the defending side is a bit tricky, especially if we’re talking about the A site. I highly recommend having a Sentinel agent in order to lock down Main or even Viper since she can easily control this side of the map.

If you are to retake the A site, the best strategy would be to coordinate your push. At the same time, allow your team to have players coming in from various angles.

As for the B site, it can be a pain in the ass to retake but one that is viable. However, you have to make sure you can counter the insanely powerful plant-and-run strategy used by the attacking side. By far this is the meta strategy on this side of the map.

A viable choice would be to have Sage place a wall. Smokes can prove effective too, albeit at a lesser efficiency. Then again, controlling the mid area plays a key role for both sides.

As long as you can prevent the attacking side from taking mid, you can then push up on any side of the map. At the same time, you can obtain information about your enemies’ whereabouts.
