V Rising gets its 1.1 update, titled Invaders of Oakveil, which introduces a large host of changes and new content to the game.

There’s a brand new region, the titular Oakveil Woodlands, for one. But there are also massive changes to the game’s progression, how stats work, resources available, and more. It’s a pretty substantial update when it’s all said and done.

Read on and we’ll go over all of the notable changes and additions in V Rising 1.1 and how they work.

All Changes & How They Work | V Rising 1.1: Invaders of Oakveil

Enter the Oakveil Woodlands

Woodlands | V Rising 1.1: Invaders of Oakveil

This is the main new content addition in V Rising 1.1, fitting the title of Invaders of Oakveil! The Oakveil Woodlands is a brand new biome on the northwestern part of Vardoran. The land itself is corrupted there, thanks to the work of the Venom Blades led by Megara the Serpent Queen.

You’ll find many new enemies there, some of which are casters that can surround themselves with an aura that levels up other enemies. Of course, you’ll also be able to take on a total of 5 new V Blood bosses.

What’s more, you can gather the following new resources:

  • Corrupted Oak – Obtained from the corrupted trees in the woodlands, you can grind it down into Planks and Venom Sap.
  • Emery – Obtained from ore nodes. Can be refined into Ember Glass and used to craft certain new structures, which we’ll talk about more later.
  • Corrupted Flower – Can be picked up all over the woodlands, and can be refined into various new weapon Coatings and Pollen.
  • Venom Sap – A common resource all over the Oakveil Woodlands, and the main thing the Venom Blades wish to collect. It can be used to produce Ember Glass, various Coatings, and some new structures.
  • Ember Glass – Can be looted randomly in the woodlands or made with a combination of Emery and Venom Sap. It’s mainly used at the Fusion Forge to merge Ancestral Weapons or Jewelry.

Gathering these new resources and defeating the new V Bloods will be your primary goal in 1.1 if you wish to get all the new content!

New V Bloods in Dunley Farms

New Old V Bloods | V Rising 1.1: Invaders of Oakveil

The new region isn’t the only source of content in this new update, however. The Dunley Farms region is also now home to two more V Blood Carriers, as follows:

  • Sir Erwin the Gallant Cavalier (Level 46) – Found at the Horse Racing Track, defeating him will unlock the Stables as a structure for your castle. Use the Stables to feed your mounts and improve their attributes. You can also use it to unlock extra perks for Vampire Horses.
  • Gaius the Cursed Champion (Level 55) – Found at the Coliseum, defeating him will primarily give you the Arena Station and Arena Decorations as structures. These allow you to create a custom Arena for PvP within your castle. If you love fighting other players, this is a must!

Speaking of the old regions and V Bloods, progression has been reworked somewhat when it comes to V Blood Carriers. A lot of them have new or different unlocks, while others have seen a minor reduction in their Level. Keep that in mind if you’re starting a fresh save!

It’s Time to D-D-D-D-Duel!

Dueling Banner | V Rising 1.1: Invaders of Oakveil

Another new addition that also pertains to PvP is the new Dueling Banner. This is a craftable item that you unlock after defeating Rufus the Foreman during Act I. You can place this Dueling Banner anywhere you wish. If another player touches it, you will initiate a PvP duel against them!

A neat little thing about this is that both players, win or lose, will have their health restored and cooldowns reset after the duel. This makes it pretty easy to go for a second round or to just leave and continue your exploration normally.

Horse Changes

Horses | V Rising 1.1: Invaders of Oakveil

As we mentioned previously, V Rising 1.1: Invaders of Oakveil adds the new Stables structure. However, this isn’t the only change made to horses in the game. There are some other notable changes to keep in mind!

First off, non-vampire horses will now enter a downed state instead of dying directly. This allows you to revive them, should you wish to do so.

Also, horses’ stats have received an overhaul:

  • Their Speed now ranges from 7.5 to 9.5 (instead of 7.0 to 9.0).
  • Acceleration ranges from 3.5 to 6 (instead of 3.0 to 5.0).
  • Max natural stats have been reduced since you can now boost them via the Stables.
  • Vampire Horses have also received a notable nerf, as they now have 200 HP instead of 400!

Cloudy With a Chance of Blood

More Clouds | V Rising 1.1: Invaders of Oakveil

Another notable change in this update is that the dynamic cloud system has been somewhat reworked to allow for denser clouds. This mostly affects some of the V Blood Carrier’s arenas, such as Grayson the Armourer and Finn the Fisherman as an example.

What this means for you is that certain bosses are now also easier to fight during the daytime. There are more clouds and they’re denser, so they provide better protection from the sun’s harsh light. You’re still a vampire, after all!

Build a Treasury and Automate Production

Treasury | V Rising 1.1: Invaders of Oakveil

Bringing in yet another quality-of-life upgrade, V Rising 1.1: Invaders of Oakveil also introduces the new Treasury Flooring. This flooring unlocks once you defeat Nicholaus the Fallen.

Make a room with the Treasury Flooring and all of the containers within will share their inventory. This means you won’t need to remember where you placed specific items, all of your containers will essentially work as one big container! This even works with crafting stations placed in the room.

Redistribution At Work

This also works great when combined with the new Redistribution Engine, which unlocks from defeating Henry Blackbrew the Doctor. This fancy new structure allows you to link other structures and containers together. You can use this to automate production chains, even!

For example, have a Grinder produce Pollen and send it to a Loom. Then, have the Loom refine that into Coarse Threads, which can then be sent to a Paper Press to produce Scrolls. All that without you having to micromanage every step of the process!

Attributes Have Been Reworked

New Stats | V Rising 1.1: Invaders of Oakveil

This is one of the major changes with this update that might make some veterans wary at first. All of the stats and attributes have been reworked, adding a hard cap on most of them. This hard cap is now represented by a red gauge under the stat, which you can see from your Attributes info panel. These attributes mostly come from your gear and Passives.

While this does mean you have a limit on how much you can increase certain stats, it does not mean that you will be weaker. To make up for this change, Passives and Blood have received pretty massive reworks, as well.

Passives | V Rising 1.1: Invaders of Oakveil

You now unlock Passive Slots by defeating certain V Blood bosses, up to 5 slots. This allows you to equip 5 Passives at once, and the Passives themselves now give you more buffs. For example, Blood Spray now also increases your Physical Critical Strike Chance by 8%. You can unlock Passives via the Altar of Stygian Awakening.

As for Blood, all of the types have been reworked to be more useful in combat. On top of that, it should be easier to find rare Blood types and their Quality has been raised as well. Plus, you can now Dominate and Imprison nearly every blood-carrier. This includes ones you couldn’t Dominate before, such as transformed Werewolves and Mutant Spitters.

Homogenizer

Additionally, you can also mix different Blood types together using the new Blood Homogenizer. This lets you mix and match the Traits from different Blood types, opening more build options.

It’s also worth noting that temporary buffs, such as the ones from Spells, can go over the hard caps for Attributes!

New Spell School Mastery Traits

Spell Mastery

Another new way to power yourself up, V Rising 1.1: Invaders of Oakveil also introduces the Spell Mastery system. Spending certain amounts of Spell Points into any of the Spell Schools will unlock special traits related to that school. These work as permanent passive buffs and are always active.

Make good use of the Spell Mastery system and all of the new spells added with this patch to make the most of your favorite Spell Schools!

Soul Shard Ultimate Change

Soul Shard Ult

This is a “minor” but noteworthy change introduced in V Rising 1.1: Invaders of Oakveil, so we figured it deserved a section. You no longer need to use the Ultimates from your equipped Soul Shard. Instead, you can opt out of using it by replacing it with another within the Spell menu!

Open the Fusion Forge

Fusion Forge | V Rising 1.1: Invaders of Oakveil

One of the new structures you can use is the Fusion Forge, which uses the new Ember Glass resource. You unlock it fairly late, as you get it during Act IV, however.

What the Fusion Forge does is allow you to fuse two Ancestral Weapons or two Jewels together. You can then select which Attributes from them to keep, discarding any unwanted ones. This allows you to reduce farming since you can just fuse different items together to get what you want. However, you do require Ember Glass for fusion, so keep that in mind!

Invite the Blood Souls

Blood Souls

Another quality-of-life addition is that you can now summon Blood Souls to your castle by using the Stygian Summoning Circle. The following summoning recipes have been added:

  • Lesser Blood Soul – Summons a random Lesser Blood Soul. Requires Scroll x200 and Primal Blood Essence x1.
  • Primal Blood Soul – Summons a random Primal Blood Soul. Requires Schematic x280 and Blood Crystal x80.

This allows you to farm these Blood Souls more efficiently, which is particularly important if you need the Stygian Shards they drop to unlock your new Passives!

Coat Your Weapons

Coating | V Rising 1.1: Invaders of Oakveil

As we mentioned earlier in this guide, there are now Coatings in the game. You can craft these at the Alchemy Table after unlocking them during Act IV of the game. By using them, you can coat your weapon to give them a temporary buff. Here are all of the added Coatings:

  • Blood Coating – Your next primary attack inflicts Leech and Vampiric Curse, dealing 40% Magic damage and spawning a Blood Orb. Lasts 60 minutes, with the hit effect refreshing every 12 seconds.
  • Chaos Coating – Your next primary attack deals 50% Magic damage in an area and inflicts Ignite. Lasts 60 minutes, with the hit effect refreshing every 12 seconds.
  • Frost Coating – Your next primary attack triggers a Frost Nova which deals 30% Magic damage in an area and inflicts Chill. Lasts 60 minutes, with the hit effect refreshing every 12 seconds.
  • Illusion Coating – Your next primary attack triggers an Energy Burst that deals 30% Magic damage in an area. This inflicts Weaken and grants 4 stacks of Phantasm. Lasts 60 minutes, with the hit effect refreshing every 12 seconds.
  • Storm Coating – Your next primary attack deals 40% bonus Magic damage and triggers Chain Lightning. Lasts 60 minutes, with the hit effect refreshing every 12 seconds.
  • Unholy Coating – Your next primary attack deals 40% bonus Magic damage, inflicts Condemn, and summons a bone spirit that attacks and Condemns enemies. Lasts 60 minutes, with the hit effect refreshing every 12 seconds.

Expanded Weapon Repertoire

Using the Claws

V Rising 1:1: Invaders of Oakveil is a truly massive patch, right? Last but definitely not least, there are three brand-new weapon types added to the game. Of course, these include their very own Legendary Artifact variants and all. Here are the new weapon types and how to unlock them:

  • Claws – Fast melee weapons which give you the ability to Puncture enemies. They allow for some nice mobility, as you can lunge and leap with your attacks. Unlocked by slaying Frostmaw the Mountain Terror.
  • Daggers – Throwing daggers that are suitable for being used at mid-range. Thrown daggers get stuck on the terrain and enemies, but can be recalled while dealing damage. Unlocked by slaying Bane the Shadowblade.
  • Twinblade – A double-edge weapon that can be used for quick spinning melee combos. They have decent range and can also thrown as a Javelin. Unlocked by slaying Gaius the Cursed Champion.

So, there you have it, that’s our overview of all the main changes introduced in V Rising 1.1: Invaders of Oakveil and how they work. This is a massive patch, there’s no doubt about it! Just look at how big this overview is, and we didn’t even cover all of the bug fixes and whatnot…

Venezuelan gamer cursed by being interested by most games, resulting in a ridiculous backlog he’ll never be able to conquer. Been gaming for over two decades now!
