Granblue Fantasy: Relink is an exciting new addition to the Granblue Fantasy series. With its release so close, fans of the game will be eager to know everything there is to know about the game.
We have put together the ultimate guide for the game, that will look at the various mechanics concerning gameplay you can find in the game. Alongside that, we will also look at the progression system that the game has to offer.
This guide will help you get familiar with Granblue Fantasy: Relink and get you prepared for the game’s release. Info in this guide will be based on the gameplay we have already seen and the game’s demo.
Mechanics
Basic Combat
Blocking and dodging are two basic actions that are available to all characters in the game. Players will also be able to utilize perfectly timed dodges during combat.
Performing a well-timed dodge will give your character a few seconds of invulnerability. This is simple to do, as you do this by dodging at the last second before an attack lands on you.
Consumables
Players will have access to 4 potions that can be consumed at any time. On the PlayStation, this can be accessed using the directional pad.
Starting from the potion and going clockwise, the potions in the picture are:
Basic Healing Potion
Party Healing Potion
Resurrect Potion(Can be used in critical state)
Full Healing Potion
Upon resting in the game, all 4 of your potions will be replenished. Once the game is fully released, we can expect to see more potions we can use in the game.
Critical State
Upon losing your HP in Granblue Fantasy: Relink, you will go into what is known as Critical State. While in a Critical State, your movement speed will be extremely slow.
Other than that, you also can not participate in combat at all. You will have to wait for one of the other members of your squad to revive you. Each player in your party will also have one Resurrect Potion on them. This potion will instantly revive the downed character, but it can only be used by the players themselves.
Character Based Combat
Granblue Fantasy: Relink places a big focus on different characters having different playstyles. Each character in the game has their own abilities and skills that make them unique. Other than their abilities, characters in Granblue Fantasy: Relink also have different attacks from each other.
Link Attacks
Each character in the game will have access to a special attack called the Link Attack. You can preform the Link Attack on enemies after you break their stun gauge.
Once every character in your party or team has performed a Link Attack, you will be able to enter Link Time. To enter Link Time, you will need to perform a Link Attack again after every character has performed the attack at least once.
Link Time will slow all the enemies for a limited time. During this, you can deal tons of damage and try to perform bigger combos to boost your performance rating.
Skybound Arts
Below each character’s HP bar, you will find another yellow bar. This bar is for your special attack known as the Skybound Art. Each character has a unique Skybound Art.
If all characters happen to perform their Skybound Art in a small time frame, you will be able to perform a Full Burst attack.
Both the Skybound Art and then the Full Burst are extremely powerful attacks and deal a lot of damage to enemies. These both are especially useful in boss fights.
Elemental Weakness
Enemies in Granblue Fantasy: Relink will have an Elemental Weakness, which makes them take more damage from that specific element.
From the image above, we can see a small fire symbol next to the enemy’s health bar. This symbol indicates that this specific enemy is weak to fire attacks and will take more damage from fire attacks.
All characters in the game have an element assigned to them, as seen in the image above. In this case, the character “Ghandagoza” can deal fire damage, making it extremely effective against enemies weak to fire.
Mastery Progression
You can level up your character in Granblue Fantasy: Relink using the game’s mastery tree. To upgrade skills or progress through the mastery tree, you will need MSP points. For now, it is not certain how exactly the points system works.
Weapon Upgrades
Similar to the mastery points, we don’t have a lot of information regarding weapon upgrades for now. What we do know is that each weapon in the game will have its levels and upgrades.
Other than upgrading weapons, you will also be able to craft weapons in Granblue Fantasy: Relink. The mastery tree also has a specific branch in it for weapon upgrades, and as you craft and upgrade more weapons, you will be able to access more of the mastery tree.
Sigils
Sigils play an important role in Granblue Fantasy Relink. They essentially give you specific stats when you equip them, and as you progress through the game, you will be able to unlock stronger sigils.
Granblue Fantasy: Relink doesn’t have an armor upgrading system in the game. The Sigils are the main way for you to become stronger, alongside the mastery tree.
