Thymesia is often described as similar to Bloodborne or Dark Souls. That can hold true in terms of its unforgiving difficulty. But everything else, is in a league of its own.

Today we are going to guide you on how to stay alive as you travel through Hermes and find a way to save the kingdom.

How to Upgrade Potions in Thymesia

Potions are used to restore your health. With the game being difficult from the start, you are going to need these to stay alive in the game.

You start with one of three types of potions in the game. Depending on the potion, their effects vary from the potion type. Your first potion, the general potion has an immediate effect that heals your energy and health recovery.

The next potion, the Long Lasting Potion recovers your health steadily over time. These have much more energy and health recovery overall.

The Fast-Acting Potion heals for less, but you can carry more of these compared to the general potions.

Type of Potions In Thymesia

The General Potion is unlocked at the start of your game, the other two potions would be unlocked later as you beat the boss at the Sea of Trees and the Royal Garden.

To Upgrade your potion, you have to access the beacon and select the potions menu. Selecting one of the three potions would bring you to the upgrade window. Here you would be able to enhance your potions by upgrading the number of potions, the health recovery, and ingredient slots.

To do this, however, requires you to get alchemy enhancers. These only drop from stage bosses so you only have a limited amount of these items depending on how many bosses you defeat.

Each time you upgrade a potion from the list of enhancements available, the upgrade cost would also increase in all three categories. a total of 18 Alchemy Enhancers will be used for you to fully upgrade a potion.

Potion Ingredients

During your exploration, you would come across potion ingredients to enhance their effects. These ingredients are usually dropped from enemies although the drop is random and sometimes you won’t get any ingredient loot from enemies.

The ingredient effects vary on the type of ingredients available. But in general, ingredients give you certain enhancements for three categories. increased damage ingredients, damage reduction ingredients and health-enhancing ingredients.

Potion Recipes

Potion recipes can be obtained by reading books and journals that you come across in the world. They tell you what type of ingredients you should combine and the effect they would give your potions. Usually, recipes give you 2 ingredients for you to combine and you have to guess what type of ingredient is needed to raise its effect.

One example is the Sweating Recipe. For you to activate this, you have to slot Mint, Black Pepper, and Cinnamon on your slots. When activated, you gain one stack of offensive buff.

Refreshing Recipe allows you to recover 3 energy every second. For it to take effect, you have to slot Oregano, Mint, and Fennel on your ingredient slots.

There are a total of 8 recipes in the game and finding them would give you buff effects as you use your potions.
