Throne & Liberty: Beginner’s Life Skills Guide for Making Lucent

Earn some Lucent with these simple tips. Your mileage will definitely vary, though!

As you are probably already aware, Throne & Liberty features a premium currency known as Lucent, which requires you to spend real money to get. However, did you know that you can earn it without spending a dime? Granted, you are going to be relying on other people spending their own money to do this, but it’s definitely a viable way of earning it. Here are a few tips on how!

Beginner’s Life Skills Guide for Making Lucent

Before we begin, it should be noted that you can only access the auction house once you reach level 40. If you haven’t made it that far yet, you will have to level up first before you can start selling stuff for Lucent.

For this guide in particular, we are going to be focusing on life skills, of which there are currently three in the game. These are the following: Cooking, Fishing, and Expedition.

Cooking & Fishing

Both cooking and fishing actually go hand in hand, since you do the latter to participate in the former. Very early in the game, you can get a free fishing rod from Adventurer Pro Percy at Kastleton.

For bait, you can get some from the Contact Coin Merchant for a low price at pretty much any major town. These basic supplies should be more than enough to get you started, and you can start fishing at the port of Kastleton for some easy catches.

Lower level areas tend to have easier fish to catch, and as you level up your Fishing life skill and get upgraded gear or bait, you will be able to acquire better ingredients and even random loot sacks. Fish aren’t the only important proteins in the game, though!

SIDE NOTE: Later on, at around your mid level 20s, you will get some more Adventure Codex tasks from Adventurer Pro Percy that will guide you step-by-step through the process of fishing and cooking, but you can start much earlier, as demonstrated here.

Quick Brief on Cooking

Cooking, on the other hand, just requires you to find a Cooking Oven or bonfire. These are scattered all throughout the game’s world, and you can find one in any major town. Just check your map, since it is very easy to find their icons, especially with filters!

Once you make it to one of these, you can then view all of the recipes that you can use. A lot of these will be locked depending on your current level, with some of the fish recipes requiring at least level 3 in this life skill.

There really isn’t anything to note here. Just make sure that you have all of the required ingredients and start cooking! Start off with the simplest stuff, which will only require you to kill some low level enemies and buy cheap items from a Sundries merchant.

If you are unsure of how to find a specific ingredient, click on its icon and look for the “How to Acquire” button. This will show you all of the known enemies or stores that will drop or sell that particular ingredient!

This feature is useful for finding specific gear pieces as well, but that is beyond the scope of this guide. Just know that you can sell gear (and more) for Lucent as well.

Cooking can be extremely profitable in the early days of the game, so make sure to take advantage of that and start leveling it up as soon as possible while everybody else focuses on purely combat-related activities!

Sending Out Expeditions

Finally, the last life skill that isn’t something you can actively train is Expedition. Leveling this up is as simple as going to your Amitoi house and starting expeditions at the Amitoi Expedition Map that will be right beside you as you teleport in.

From here, all you need to do is select a region and then the desired number of Amitoi (as many as you can) before starting the expedition. You can choose how many hours you want it to last, and to get your rewards, just go back to this map and claim them once they are back!

At the start, you will only have a few regions unlocked. You can see the possible rewards at the bottom right corner of the menu. This can be useful for cooking as you can get a lot of valuable ingredients here!

For example, Windhill Shores can potentially get you some salt. The free Vagabond Percy everybody gets as a part of the codex is great for this region as he gets a slight reward boost from it!

Auction House Selling

These tips are just to get you started on each of the life skills, and if you want to start making some Lucent with them, you will need to pour most of your focus on cooking. Dishes typically sell for a small amount on the Auction House, but this can easily add up as you dump a lot of supplies in there.

Basically, just keep leveling these up to the best of your abilities. Of course, you still need to participate in other activities, but the main idea is that you should not neglect your life skills, especially this early in the game’s lifespan.

If you want to start dipping your toes into more valuable items, check out our guide on how to get good gear in Throne & Liberty once you are ready for some combat. Those will net a higher price on the auction house, though there will be a lot more grinding and some mandatory team stuff to do if you prefer to go down that path!
