With Tekken 8 set to release in January 2024, many wonder, what’s new? Will Bandai Namco Entertainment in collaboration with Arika do the same thing Electronic Arts does?
That is, deliver the same game year in and year out? Or will they produce something new and original to keep the audience glued to their screens and enjoy some old-school fighting games? Mainly, Kazuya Mishima.
In today’s article, we’ll explore all of these questions and more. Dive in as we delve deep into the topic of Kazuya Mishima to uncover what’s new regarding this character. So without further ado let’s get to it!
Kazuya Mishima
Kazuya Mishima is a very interesting character, to say the least when it comes to Tekken generally. His lack of mid-poke attack makes him a very unique experience when it comes to fighting and not all players will enjoy his mechanics.
Usually, down + forward – 1 is used for poking. Kazuya is different. Kazuya’s down + forward – 1 is significantly slower and is adequate for combo chains. Players often refer to Kazuya as a 50/50 character. This means that although he is a high risk to play, he is also highly rewarded if you succeed.
Do keep in mind that Kazuya is one of the more difficult characters to master fully so be careful when choosing him.
Moves
Basic Tekken Moves Identification List for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox
1 – Left Punch (Square for PlayStation), (X for Xbox)
2 – Right Punch (Triangle for PlayStation), (Y for Xbox)
3 – Left Kick (X for PlayStation), (A for Xbox)

Forward-Down-Down-Forward
This combo will perform a Hell Sweep dealing moderate amounts of damage but being very high risk and easy to counter.
Forward-Forward-3
Best used in conjunction with the previous combo, this is meant to catch your opponents off guard and launch them in the air allowing for quick combos to deal even more damage.
Jab
Perhaps one of the strongest basic moves Kazuya has is the Jab. Jab in this case is the same as the one that Jin has, making it the ultimate spamming tool to use against new opponents.
1-1-2
Probably one of the best 1-1-2s in the game, Kazuya’s version of this hit is practically unblockable and it delivers a full knockdown.
Down-Forward-1-2
This is a 15-frame hit that is relatively easy to get right. It delivers an electric hit, especially if you are in Heat. We wrote an article on the Heat System, you can read it here.
Down-Forward-2
Down-Forward-2 is a counter launcher that is easy to land. It is a good option to use when your opponent gets a little too close for comfort. Additionally, it launches your opponent allowing for quick combos.
Demon Paw
Performed by combining Forward-Forward-2, the Demon Paw is an extremely strong substitute for Kazuya’s lack of mid-poke hits. It delivers insane amounts of damage and is practically impossible to block effectively.
