While gathering and harvesting aren’t super complicated systems in the MMO game Stash, there are a few quirks you have to keep in mind. Things such as when to equip tools and which tools to use for each resource, for example. Also have to keep in mind some options, such as gathering during combat encounters. This simple guide will cover all the basics you need to know.
Harvesting/Gathering Guide for Stash
Gathering and harvesting is something available to every player and every character in Stash. All you really need is the proper tool for each type of material. You can have two tools equipped at once but they can be changed freely out of combat. Harvesting during combat requires you to have pre-emptively equipped the right tools, however.
The tools and the resources they can each gather are as follows:
Pick: used to gather gems
Pickaxe: used to get ores
Axe: allow you to gather wood
Shears: used to gather herbs
Knife: allow you to skin corpses and gather leather. Can only be used in combat, make sure to equip it beforehand.
Scissors: allow you to scavenge cloth from corpses. Much like the knife, it can only be used in combat. Again, remember to equip it before combat.
How to Gather and Harvest
Now that you know how the tools and their resources, it’s time to move on to actually gathering and harvesting. Most of the resources can be found on the overworld as glowing resource spots, such as shown in the picture below.
Click on it to engage it. This engagement is a bit similar to entering combat, but you can move freely and harvest resources. You can use any and all tools and don’t need to worry about equipping them beforehand. Press 4 and click on the resource to gather during the encounter.
However, you can also gather and harvest during combat. This is also the only way to gather cloth and leather, though you can also get some from your farm animals. You also can’t switch your equipped tools in the midst of combat encounters. If you kill an enemy and notice that their corpse is sparkling, that means they can be gathered from.
Gathering while enemies are alive gives you more resources per each successful gathering. That’s something to keep in mind. More risk, but more rewards. Alternatively, you can gather after enemies are dead but before you open the loot chest. However, this doesn’t give you additional resources.
