The “Get Pitted” Challenge in Skate 4 will require you to learn how to Spread Eagle, using it to enter any of the tubes in the spot’s area. Spread Eagle is a “trick” you can use to basically glide across the air. It’s far less graceful than it sounds, but it’s extremely helpful for any stunt-related challenges! Read on, we’ll tell you how to do this trick and clear “Get Pitted.”

How to Spread Eagle & Enter Any Tube in the Get Pitted Challenge | Skate 4

A player doing the Spread Eagle in Skate 4

First things first, you can Spread Eagle by simply pressing R1 + X (PlayStation) or RB + A (Xbox). You need to be off your skateboard for it to work, however.  If you’re on the skateboard, you can press Triangle (PlayStation) or Y (Xbox) to get off of it. This works both on the ground and in the air!

Remember, you also have a lot more control over your character’s fall while holding the Spread Eagle. Use the left stick to move, essentially allowing you to glide! Not a very graceful glide, mind you, especially since you land with a splat. But it’s a glide nonetheless.

Now, for the sake of the “Get Pitted” Challenge, you need to use the Spread Eagle to enter any of the tubes in the spot. These tubes are highlighted in yellow and also marked with a circle icon right above them.

To successfully enter any of these tubes, use the Spread Eagle to land so that you fall as close to them as possible. Try to land directly in front of them, basically. Once you hit the ground, your character should bounce and allow you to control them a bit more. Use that bounce to finish getting them into the tube! It should look a bit like the clip above.

So, there you have it! That’s how to use the Spread Eagle “trick” in Skate 4 and how to enter any of the tubes in the “Get Pitted” Challenge. This isn’t too dissimilar to doing a Christ Air for the “Redemption Air” Challenge, when you think about it! Though that trick is certainly a lot more graceful…
