The Spirit Alternator Ring is a reward for the alternative ending of the Prototype Robot quest added in Remnant 2: The Dark Horizon DLC.

If you aren’t careful, this quest normally ends with a fight against the Prototype Robot. However, properly inspecting the items you get during the quest can result in a much happier outcome. Plus, you get the powerful Spirit Alternator Ring. This Ring allows you to get 150% of all incoming Shield as Mod Power.

In this guide, we’ll tell you how to complete the Prototype Robot quest ensuring you get the good ending and the Spirit Alternator!

How to Get Spirit Alternator Ring (Prototype Robot Alternative Ending)

Prototype Head | Remnant 2: How to Get Spirit Alternator Ring (Prototype Robot Alternative Ending) | The Dark Horizon

To get the Spirit Alternator Ring, you must get the alternative ending to the Prototype Robot quest in Remnant 2: The Dark Horizon, as we mentioned in our introduction. This quest requires you to find 4 pieces to repair a broken-down Prototype Robot. The first piece you find is the Prototype Head shown above, which is right by the first World Stone in the Agronomy Sector when you start the DLC. You can’t miss it!

Now, finding all of these Prototype Robot pieces is the hardest part of the quest. As such, we’ll tell you where to find all the others as well.

Prototype Arm

For this piece, you’ll need to head to the Glider near the Anterior Recess World Stone in the Agronomy Sector. The map above marks the Glider’s location.

Cave

Once you take the Glider, ride it all the way straight ahead. You should see a small cave right in front of you as you get close to the ground.

Defeating enemies

The cave is blocked by lasers, so shoot the enemies inside from afar. Killing them will disable the lasers, granting you entry.

Prototype Arm

Enter the cave to find the Prototype Arm lying on the ground right in front of you.

Prototype Claw

Similar to the Prototype Arm, you’ll need to go to another Glider spot. This time, however, you’ll need to be in the Withered Necropolis. Simply head to the spot marked on the map above.

The bridge

As soon as you grab onto the Glider, look down below. You should see a broken bridge. Land on the leftmost side of the bridge, following the arrow in the image.

Long corridor

Once you land, go down the corridor while fending off the enemies. Just keep moving forward until you reach the very end.

Prototype Claw

You’ll see the Prototype Claw on a broken robot to your left when you’re near the end of the corridor.

Prototype Memory Core

Memory Core | Remnant 2: How to Get Spirit Alternator Ring (Prototype Robot Alternative Ending) | The Dark Horizon

You can get the Prototype Memory Core by starting from the entrance to The Convergence in Withered Necropolis. Just like before, take the Glider marked on the map above.

First ledge

When you take the Glider, just head straight ahead to the ledge on the far-off cliff.

Second glider

Once you land on the ledge, go into the cave in front of you and keep moving straight forward. You’ll eventually reach another Glider. Grab onto it.

Second ledge

Now, look in front of you and to the left. You should spot a somewhat obscured ledge, as shown above. Maneuver your Glider to land there.

Prototype Memory Core

Land on the ledge and follow the linear path to grab the Prototype Memory Core.

Before you do anything else, the next step is the most important step to ensure that you get the alternative ending for the Prototype Robot quest in Remnant 2: The Dark Horizon, you won’t get the Spirit Alternator Ring otherwise!

Inspecting the Memory Core | Remnant 2: How to Get Spirit Alternator Ring (Prototype Robot Alternative Ending) | The Dark Horizon

Open up your inventory and look for the Prototype Memory Core. Select it and inspect it.

Push the button

While inspecting the Prototype Memory Core, rotate it until you can see the button at the top. Press the button and you should see the Memory Core’s lights change from red to blue.

Blue Memory Core

This will ensure that the Prototype Robot becomes friendly instead of turning hostile!

Repairing the Prototype Robot | Quest Alternative Ending and Spirit Alternator Ring Location

Prototype Robot | Remnant 2: How to Get Spirit Alternator Ring (Prototype Robot Alternative Ending) | The Dark Horizon

The last thing for you to do now is to deliver all of the Prototype parts to the Prototype Robot. You can find them from the Repair Lab World Stone in the Agronomy Sector part of N’erud, as shown above. Also, just in case, double-check that the Prototype Memory Core is set to the blue light.

Prototype Robot dialogue

When you approach the Prototype Robot and select “I’ve got something for you.” Now just give it all of the Prototype parts you’ve collected. To thank you for all of your help, the Prototype Robot will reward you with the Spirit Alternator Ring. It will also remain friendly and not turn hostile, which is the usual outcome if you don’t press the button on the Prototype Memory Core first!
