A world of multiple lifetimes while honing and enhancing your skills to come back stronger than before. Ravenbound offers a fast-paced action-roguelite in the open world as you complete your missions while traversing the hostile environment of this Scandinavian-based fantasy world.

To survive in this harsh world, you must learn the ways of living here. That being said, we are going to show you everything that you have to know.

Beginner’s Guide for Ravenbound

As you step both of your feet into the world of Avalt, you will be encountering different enemies of different strengths and abilities that you have to defeat with your weapon—the Raven—in order to bring back peace and order in the world.

The warriors in the game are all called Vessels where the Raven is hidden away.

Besides this basic information, here are some more details that you have to understand about the game.

Game Structure

As mentioned, the game will be a full open-world system. Aside from that, it will also be a rougelite which will allow the players to explore the world however they want. However, each run will offer a lot of randomization elements.

Since the features of the game will be randomized, this means that the location of the enemies, as well as the type of enemy you fought earlier, will be different the next time. In other words, the world will be constantly changing.

In terms of the open-world system, you will notice that it is a vast land of different biomes. Given that, you have the full authority to decide whether you want to go in order to explore the whole world.

What you are expected to see here are grasslands, mountain ranges, water, snow-covered regions, marshlands, and forests.

What’s good about here is that if you are the type of player who wants to easily get to one place from another, it will be a lot easier for you as you can simply fly for travel.

Combat

As a vessel, your job is to fight evil and bring back peace to the world. That being said, you should not just concern yourself with the exploration, but also with the concept of combat.

Here, you will experience a fast-paced tactical combat system using your weapons that are imbued with magical powers and abilities.

Although you will be equipped with a magical weapon, you must not be complacent with its damage. You must also know which power-ups and abilities must be unlocked.

Enemies

Just like in any battle, knowing your enemies well would be your best advantage. By knowing their strengths and weaknesses, their abilities, and their movements, you can easily strategize and think of possible tactics to defeat them.

According to the developers, the enemies that you will see here are also based on Scandinavian folklore. This includes trolls, huldras, undead, and fairies.

Concept of Permadeath

With its concept of permadeath, it is expected for your character to die from time to time. But this will not fully reset your progress. You can still continue leveling the Raven until it reached its maximum potential.

However, once your character dies, the vessel also dies which would mean that it is gone forever. When it happens, you have to move on to the next lifetime and choose another vessel to use.

In this situation, there will also be a permanent progression. Its progression system will mainly dwell on cards in a deck-building feature. These cards will grant you several bonuses such as new character classes, better armor and weapons, and relics for ability upgrades.

Every time your vessel dies, you will be asked to pick another card that will equip your next vessel of choice.
