The first thing you have to be wary about is your fishing power. Fishing power refers to your player’s stats that will determine how often you will get fish bites, as well as the quality of the fish that you will catch. Having said that, the higher your fishing power, the better catch you will have.

There are different ways you can do to increase your fishing power.

Consume a Gummy Worm

The first way of increasing your fishing power is by eating a Gummy Worm. Doing this will give you an additional 3 fishing power permanently.

To obtain a gummy worm, you must first have a Golden Worm and throw it into the Shimmer Pool. Once it comes out, it will be turned into a gummy worm.

Weather

There are different places where you can fish. In honey, water, and even in lava if you have the correct equipment. But focusing on water, and weather can affect your fishing power.

If you go out to fish while it’s raining, you will gain an additional 20% fishing power. But that is not permanent and will only take effect at the moment. On the other hand, fishing while snowing also grants you another temporary fishing power of 10%.

Perfect Fishing Time

Aside from the weather, the time you go fishing also greatly affects your catch. Shown in the picture above are the ideal times to go fishing as well as the effect on your activity. Make sure to take note of these to maximize your time.

Along with the time, you must also take note of the current moon phase as it also has a significant effect on your fishing activity. Here is a list of the moon phases and their effects.

  • Full Moon: +10%
  • Moon 2 or 8: +5%
  • Moon 4 or 6: -5%
  • New Moon (no moon): -10%

Fishing Pole and Bait

Given that your main instruments in fishing are the pole and bait, it is understood that these two have major effects on your fishing power. In fact, the best fishing pole that you can have can give you an additional 50% fishing power, while the weakest one grants 5%.

Along with the fishing pole, the bait you use will also greatly affect your fishing power, as it has its bait power. Here, the best baits you can use are the golden bugs which give you an additional 50% power. These golden bugs are butterflies, dragonflies, grasshoppers, ladybugs, water striders, and worms.

Without golden bugs, you can also use any dragonflies and it will give you an additional 20% power. Also, a worm gives you 25% power.
