Test Chamber 10 in Chapter 4 (Diversion) of Portal: Revolution is only around the halfway point of the game, but it can really test most players’ skills!
Portal: Revolution is a fanmade project aimed toward Portal veterans first and foremost, so it pulls no punches with its challenging puzzles.
In this guide, we’ll help you quickly solve the 10th test chamber in the game!
How to Solve Chamber 10 in Chapter 4 (Diversion)
As soon as you enter the chamber, look for a white panel on the ground and place one portal on it. Place another portal on the bottom of the long vertical strip on the wall to your right, as well.
Now, step on the big red button by the white panel. This will make a stream appear and pull a big blue ball of gel, slowly moving toward the portal on the long strip on the wall.
Once the ball of gel crosses the portal, remove the portal on the long strip and place it on the slanted panel to the left instead. Get off of the button too, to make the ball of gel fall back into the portal.
The gel will splash on the floor close to a ledge, which you will need later to bounce a ball. That’s Portal logic for you!
Now, remove the portal on the slanted panel and place it somewhere around the middle of the large horizontal strip near the ground. It should look like the picture above.
Step on the red button again once your portals are properly set up.
Look to the wall opposite of the last portal you placed and you should spot a ball falling down.
The stream from the button you’re pressing should pull the ball. Wait for it to be above the floor before you get off the button.
Grab the ball and place it on the red button so that it activates the stream again without you having to stand on it.
Now, stand where the stream is so that it pushes you toward the top of the room. Once you’re at the max height, remove the portal from the horizontal strip and place it at the bottom of the vertical strip.
Halfway Point
The idea is to pull the ball of blue gel once again while you’re floating at the top of the room.
Once the ball of gel is about to reach the ball’s position, remove the portal on the vertical strip and place it on the slanted panel.
You will fall back into the portal and bounce off towards the chamber’s exit!
Now, look back to where you came from and below you. You should spot a white square panel. Put a portal on top of it.
You should have a portal on that panel and one on the slanted panel you came out from before.
This will make balls fall into the portals, bounce on the blue gel, and reach you near the exit.
However, the ball’s bounce physics seems to glitch out sometimes, making it not bounce far enough.
You’ll need to activate the Developer Mode console from settings and use the “reset” command to restart the chamber.
Using the developer console doesn’t prevent you from earning achievements at all, so it’s safe to do so. You’ll be forced to redo the puzzle, though, but you already know the solution.
Either way, get the ball inside the socket to open the chamber’s exit and you’ve solved this puzzle!
