The introduction of the Spirit Walker in patch 0.5 of Path of Exile 2 completely changed the way companion builds work in the game. Prior to the update, most minion-focused setups relied on traditional summons.

However, Spirit Walker introduced something far more interesting: the ability to tame even Unique beasts through The Natural Order notable. This means you get to tame those Unique bosses you encountered in the campaign.

If you’re playing a similar build, then here’s how you can maximize the damage of your tamed Unique beast.

Tame Beast allows you to capture rare beasts and convert them into permanent companions. These companions retain several monster modifiers from the original creature. This makes them a bit different from your typical minions.

In fact, certain captured beasts can provide extremely powerful offensive abilities, crowd control, or aura effects.

However, what pushed the skill into the spotlight was the introduction of The Natural Order. This ascendancy node allows Spirit Walkers to tame Unique beasts. This means you can have bosses such as the Mighty Silverfist as your companion.

With that out of the way, let’s get to the actual meat of the article. How exactly do you maximize the damage of your new Unique beast?

Pick the Beast with the Right Modifiers

First off, you have to pay attention to its modifiers.

The Tame Beast skill allows your captured beast to retain up to four modifiers when summoned. This makes for some really powerful combinations as long as you know which mods to look for.

As such, before you capture a Unique monster, make sure to look at its modifier first to determine if it’s worth capturing or if you should just reset the instance.

That said, there are a bunch of really powerful modifiers that a tamed beast can have. For example, there’s a mod that grants 40% of damage gained as extra damage of a certain element. There’s also another mod that grants 30% movement speed and another one that grants 300% increased critical chance.

These are just a few of the many possible mod combinations that a beast can possess.

You can check this list of monster modifiers to get an idea of which mods you want to target based on your build.

However, looking for a Unique beast that has three, let alone four, powerful mods is easier said than done. Typically, a Unique beast only has two rare modifiers, but you can roll a modifier called “Unique Monsters Have 1 Additional Rare Modifier” on a precursor tablet.

Jado Spycraft Path of Exile 2

This lets you find a beast with up to three mods. To find one with four, however, requires a lot of RNG. For this, you have to enable the “20% chance to double Effect of Precursor Tablets” via Jado and hope that you get the same mod but with 2 additional rare modifiers instead.

Use Pain Offering

For this, you want to summon a bunch of Skeleton minions to add to your party. The reason is simple: Pain Offering lets you skewer a Skeleton minion to grant all your other minions an increase in damage, as well as attack and cast speed.

You can further scale the buff by socketing support gems such as Dance Macabre and Sacrificial Offering. However, since these are Intelligence gems, you’ll need a bit of investment into the Intelligence stat to be able to use them.

Regardless, that’s a really small cost to pay for the amount of power it gives your Unique beast companion.

Get Used to Parrying

The last method you can use to make your Unique beast deal more damage is to simply use the Parry skill.

If you didn’t know yet, the Parry skill lets you completely block the next hit you would take, thus mitigating its damage. At the same time, it also causes you to retaliate, which then causes the target to take increased attack damage for a short duration.

With the Parried debuff on your target, it will then take 50% more Attack damage from you and your companion. It only lasts for a few seconds, but the damage increase it gives is huge.

Fortunately, you can scale this duration by using the Prolonged Duration 2 support gem. Other than that, you can also scale the effect of the Parried debuff even further. You can do this by allocating passives on the skill tree that gives increased Parried debuff magnitude.

Some examples include Flashy Parrying, Consistent Intake, and Reprisal. There’s also a bunch of small passive nodes that provide the same effect.

It’s possible to get a 100% debuff magnitude on the skill tree. This translates to 100% more Attack damage taken when a target gets parried.

Final Thoughts

That wraps up the different methods you can follow to further increase the damage of your Unique beast in Path of Exile 2.

As you can see, the Spirit Walker has definitely changed the meta for Tame Beast, thanks to its notable. If you happen to be playing as one, then this guide should definitely help you out.
