The Ritual encounters in Path of Exile 2 feel a bit different after the 0.5 patch, especially once you start running into them regularly inside maps. What used to feel like a simple stop-and-clear encounter now has a slightly tighter flow to it, where your decisions during the fight can matter more than they used to. If your runs have started to feel a bit less consistent, that shift is probably part of it.

It all really comes down to getting your Atlas setup right, using the right Tablets, and following a clear progression path toward the King in the Mists content. Once these pieces are in place, the whole setup becomes much smoother to run and you stop having to rethink every map as you go. In this guide, I will show you how to properly farm Rituals.

How to Properly Farm Rituals

The first thing you need to do is reach the left side of the Atlas, specifically the area left of the Fortress. From there, you should focus on completing maps and main quests in this region to earn points for the Atlas Passive Skill Tree and unlock the Ritual passives.

Once you start investing those points, follow the order shown in the image below to get the most efficiency out of your progression and avoid wasting early value on the wrong nodes.

Tablets

Next, you want to focus on picking up Tablets with the right modifiers for Ritual farming. The number of monsters that spawn in your map directly affects how much Tribute you can generate during Ritual encounters.

Because of that, any modifiers that increase monster density will indirectly improve your rewards. You should prioritize stats that increase the percentage of magic monsters, rare monsters, overall pack size, and similar effects that boost how many enemies appear in a map. More monsters on screen usually means more Tribute when you complete the Rituals tied to that map.

On top of that, there are also specific modifiers that directly improve Ritual efficiency. These can reduce the cost of rerolling your Favors or increase the amount of Tribute you gain from monsters in the map.

When you combine both density scaling and Ritual-focused modifiers on your Tablets, you end up with much stronger and more consistent reward cycles.

Rite of the Nameless

Defeating the Ritual endgame boss known as the King in the Mists is tied to a specific Atlas access item called “An Audience with the King“. You obtain this fragment through Ritual encounters as part of the reward pool, so it naturally feeds back into the same system you are farming. Once you have it, you can use it to open the encounter and take on the boss fight directly.

After you defeat the King in the Mists, you receive a key quest item called the “Head of the King“. This item is then used to begin the next stage of the Ritual endgame progression, referred to as the Rite of the Nameless on the Atlas.

To start it, you travel to Caer Tarth and place the “Head of the King” onto the designated effigy there. This unlocks a structured set of Atlas map selections where you choose six maps to run.

Completing these maps sets up a focused farming sequence that feeds back into Ritual rewards and gives you access to a denser reward cycle compared to standard mapping.

That’s It

Ritual farming in this state is less about rushing every altar and more about controlling how much value you pull out of each map. Once your Atlas passives and Tablets are working together properly, the system starts to feel more consistent instead of random.

Once you have your Ritual setup rolling, you might want to look at my Catalyst farming guide to juice up your rings and amulets.
