As you can guess, this build is all about using Cold elemental damage to apply Chill and Freeze on foes. This weakens them, keeping them from attacking you while also increasing how much damage you deal to them. This can make quick work of pretty much everything you face in the campaign!

Gear & Stats

Gearing up for this Freeze Sorceress leveling build in Path of Exile 2 is not too different from other Sorceress leveling builds. Your main stats to look out for are as follows:

• Cold Damage
• Energy Shield
• Increase Freeze Buildup
• Levels to Cold Spell Skills
• Life
• Life per Enemy Killed
• Mana per Enemy Killed
• Spell Damage

In summary, it’s the standard stat focus for Sorceress builds alongside anything that can boost your Cold Spells. This can work with either a Staff or a Wand & Focus weapon set, depending on your preference. It’s a pretty flexible build when it comes to gearing up!

Skill Gems

When it comes to Skill Gems, this Freeze Sorceress build is fairly simple. Unlike other builds, you get one of your main Skills right away: Frost Bomb. When combined with basic attacks, this will carry you through the first few levels until you unlock the higher-tier Skills.

Nonetheless, this is the Skill and Support Gems setup you want to follow as you level up:

• Frost Bomb – Places a pulsating Cold orb that explodes after a short delay. The pulses apply Cold Exposure to enemies. The explosion itself deals Cold Damage and applies the Chill Ailment.
  • Support 1: Fast Forward
  • Support 2: Spell Echo
• Frostbolt – With our setup, Frostbolt will shoot 3 slow-moving orbs that deal Cold Damage and apply Chill. Also leaves a traile of Chilled Ground, which also applies Chill. Can be detonated by Cold Snap to create a large Cold Damage blast instead.
  • Support 1: Deceleration
  • Support 2: Scattershot
• Cold Snap – Use it to detonate floating Frostbolts or Frozen enemies. Either way, it creates a large blast that deals strong Cold Damage to any enemies within range. Using it on a Frozen enemy will remove the Frozen effect.
  • Support 1: Unleash
  • Support 2: Arcane Tempo
• Hypothermia – Applies a curse to all targets within a radius, applying Cold Exposure. Perfect for taking down Elites and Bosses, as well as enemies that resist Cold Damage.
  • Support 1: Heightened Curse
  • Support 2: Strip Away
• Artic Armor – Surround yourself with an armor of ice that gains three stages over time. Getting hit will remove one stage and create a retaliatory blast, dealing Cold Damage to enemies.
• Elemental Storm – You’ll get this from the Stormweaver Ascendancy. It will create a stationary Cold storm that deals damage and hinders foes whenever you hit an enemy with a Critical Hit.

Passives and Ascendancy

The Passives Tree progression for this Freeze Sorceress leveling build in Path of Exile 2 is pretty simple. It should look like the image above once you’re done with the build.

To start, you want to go straight to the top from Sorceress’ starting point on the Passives Tree. Your goal is to reach the snowflake-shaped group of Passives at the top and get every single one of them. Along the way, make sure to invest every Attribute node into +5 Intelligence.

Once you’ve done that, double back and get the Freeze Buildup circle of Passives you skipped out on earlier. It’s the one marked above.

Then, continue further to the right to the cluster of Cold Passives near the top right corner of the Passives Tree. These will primarily help you Freeze enemies while also greatly boosting how much Cold Damage you deal to enemies afflicted with Freeze. Pretty perfect for this build!

For Ascendancy, you want to get the Stormweaver Ascendancy. Get the first Chill Duration node and then go further down to the Heavy Snows Notable Passive. This will allow you to stack 2 Chill Ailments on enemies.

Then, go down the Tempest Caller path until you get the Rain Dancer Notable Passive. This will give you the Elemental Storm Skill we talked about in the Skill Gems section. It will also increase its Cooldown Recovery Rate by 150%, letting you trigger it more often.
