Path of Exile 2 Delirium Guide – Distilled Emotions & Delirium Mirrors

What exactly are deliriums and what are they for?

Despite being in very early access, Path of Exile 2 already has a bunch of endgame activities for players to try and take on while waiting for new stuff. In this guide, we will be talking about Delirium, which is a mechanic that can be confusing for new players who are still transitioning into the late game stages of the game’s current build.

Delirium Guide – Distilled Emotions & Delirium Mirrors

Simply put, delirium is a random event that you can trigger while you are out exploring various maps. These are started through Delirium Mirrors, which can appear on most maps and must be touched in order to start the event.

Upon touching one of these mirrors, a thick mist will envelop the map, and special enemy types will appear all around you. These enemies will be tougher than their normal variants, and they will get stronger the further you move across the zone.

As you kill enemies, the counter above your health in the lower left will go up, which increases your rewards. You can keep killing enemies as long as you stay in the mist by following it deeper into the map. If you stray away for too long, a timer will appear and the mist will dissipate when it reaches zero, ending the event.

Among the things you can get from this event are Distilled Emotions, which are materials that you can use to activate certain passive skill nodes without actually allocating points into them.

If you inspect certain nodes, you will see that you can activate them if you have a specific set of Distilled Emotions. To start instilling these emotions into an amulet, first right click on one of them to bring up the menu for it. From here, place three distilled emotions in the order of your desired passive node.

For example, this Primal Protection passive node, which is not allocated, requires “Guilt, Greed, and Paranoia”. In the instilling window, insert your amulet and then the three distilled emotions in the right order. If you did it correctly, the result preview should show that it will insert Primal Protection to the amulet.

Once you are satisfied with the result, press “Instil” to complete the process. The amulet will now allocate the passive node, allowing you to take advantage of its buffs without spending points for it.

And those are the basics that you need to know in order to start taking advantage of these delirium events and the resources you get from them. With this in mind, you can further min-max your build, assuming you have a specific node that you really need but can’t reach!

While you are here, check out our guide on how weapon set skill points work in Path of Exile 2 as well. This will help you further customize your build in the event that you have a very specific setup in mind for different weapons!
