Yes, Lacrimosa is good in Neverness to Everness, especially if you want a Chaos main DPS with strong damage-over-time pressure, flexible combat options, and useful account-wide quality-of-life perks.

She is a Chaos damage dealer who focuses on applying Nightmare stacks, copying enemy/anomaly abilities, and triggering Esper Cycle reactions like Scorch, Nova, and Discord. Even at A0, she is already a solid DPS, but her higher awakening investment can make her feel like a completely different character.

The main catch is that some of her best playstyle upgrades are tied to awakenings, especially her instant Esper Cycle mechanic. So, if you only want one copy, she is still good. If you really like her and want to push her quickswap teams further, awakenings make her much stronger.

Before going deeper, keep in mind that a lot of early Lacrimosa testing was done on early access or media servers, so some numbers, translations, and effects may still change once everything is live.

Lacrimosa Overview: Role, Attribute, and Playstyle

Lacrimosa is a Chaos main DPS who specializes in damage over time. Her main mechanic is Nightmare, a stacking DoT effect that can be applied through her basic attacks, skill, and ultimate.

She can fight in two modes:

Melee Mode lets Lacrimosa attack up close with a five-part basic attack string.

Ranged Mode lets her attack from a distance with finger-gun style attacks, which generally feels smoother for maintaining Nightmare stacks.

You can swap between melee and ranged mode by pressing the mode switch button, or G on PC.

Her most unique mechanic is her ability to copy certain anomaly or enemy abilities and use them as part of her own kit. Because of that, Lacrimosa feels like a Chaos DPS, DoT enabler, and weird little anomaly collector all at once.

Lacrimosa Skills Explained

Lacrimosa Basic Attacks and Nightmare Stacks

Lacrimosa has two basic attack strings: one for melee and one for ranged mode. Both strings have five parts, and her individual hits can apply Nightmare stacks to enemies.

Nightmare is a short damage-over-time effect. Each stack lasts for a few seconds, and multiple stacks can be active at the same time. Based on early testing, Lacrimosa can stack Nightmare up to around 10 stacks.

This is why attack strings with multiple hits matter so much for her. The more individual hits she lands, the faster she can build Nightmare stacks and keep her DoT damage rolling.

For general play, Ranged Mode feels easier and safer because you can maintain pressure without staying too close to the enemy. You can also dash cancel certain ranged attacks to keep attacking while refreshing or maintaining Nightmare stacks.

Lacrimosa Skill: Copying Anomaly Abilities

Lacrimosa’s skill is one of the most interesting parts of her kit.

By default, her skill performs a quick attack that applies 5 Nightmare stacks. However, if you hold the attack input and aim at a valid enemy or anomaly, Lacrimosa can copy that enemy’s ability and register it into her collection.

Once copied, that enemy ability can be used as her monster/anomaly skill. You can also change which copied ability she has equipped through her ability menu.

In simple terms, Lacrimosa can act like a twisted anomaly collector. You copy enemy attacks, equip the one you want, and use it as part of her rotation.

Some strong early options include boss-style abilities and her own Tomato Devil-style ability. The Tomato Devil option seems especially strong for single-target damage, while other copied skills may be better for area damage or faster animations.

Since Lacrimosa’s copied skills come from anomalies and enemies, players who enjoy hunting special encounters may also want to check our How to Spawn the Headless Rider in NTE (Anomaly Boss) guide.

Lacrimosa Ultimate

Lacrimosa’s ultimate has different animations depending on whether she is in melee or ranged mode, but the damage is basically the same.

The ultimate deals a large burst of damage and applies 5 Nightmare stacks. Since it contributes to both her direct damage and DoT setup, you generally want to use it whenever it is available during your main damage window.

The animation is mostly a style difference, so you do not need to stress too much about whether you are in melee or ranged mode before casting it.

Lacrimosa Exploration and Quality-of-Life Skills

Lacrimosa is not just useful in combat. She also has strong quality-of-life perks.

One of her best exploration features is that she can turn into a bat, letting you fly around and move vertically in the overworld. This makes exploration smoother, especially when moving around buildings, rooftops, and awkward terrain.

Lacrimosa also helps with Pink Paws Heist rewards by improving Fons and Pink Paw-related income. This makes her useful for players who want to reduce grinding in that mode.

Best Lacrimosa Weapon / Arc Options

Lacrimosa uses Liquid-type Arcs, and her best weapon is very clearly her signature.

Best Lacrimosa Weapon: The Last Rose

The Last Rose is Lacrimosa’s signature Arc and her best weapon option.

Its biggest strength is that it can give Lacrimosa a massive Critical Damage boost, reportedly up to around 60%. In testing, this boost can activate quickly after using her skill, making it very easy for her to benefit from it during normal rotations.

The Last Rose also extends the enemy’s broken state by a few seconds, which is extremely useful because Lacrimosa likes dealing damage during break windows. This also helps her teams make better use of Discord and other Esper Cycle setups.

If you are deciding whether to pull for Lacrimosa or her signature Arc, our All Ways to Get Summons in Neverness to Everness NTE guide can help you plan your pulls and resources.

Best Alternative Lacrimosa Weapons

If you do not have The Last Rose, these are the next options to consider:

Fluff of Fleetness is one of her best non-signature choices, especially if you have access to the battle pass weapon. It performs well, although it may lose some value if you swap cancel too often.

Youthful Fantasy can also work, but there is some conflict because it is usually strong on Daffodil too. If your Daffodil is low investment and Lacrimosa is doing most of the team’s damage, you can temporarily give Youthful Fantasy to Lacrimosa and use something else on Daffodil.

Shiny Days is a more budget-friendly option. It can help when enemies are broken, but the damage drop compared to her signature is noticeable.

Real Music can work as a last resort, but it is not something you should prioritize if you have better options.

Best Lacrimosa Console Set

The best Console set for Lacrimosa is the 4-piece Diabolos set.

This set is ideal because Lacrimosa deals Chaos damage, and Diabolos directly supports that damage type. There is not much reason to use another set if your goal is to maximize her personal damage.

For the module layout, you generally want to fit in the 4-piece Diabolos set while also using as many Type III modules as possible, since Lacrimosa gains extra Chaos damage from Type III modules. In early testing, a setup with multiple Type III modules can give her a large amount of bonus Chaos damage.

Best Lacrimosa Main Stats & Substats

For Lacrimosa’s main stats, prioritize:

Critical Rate
Critical Damage
Chaos Damage
Damage Percent
Attack Percent

Critical Rate is especially important because Lacrimosa wants her Nightmare ticks and direct damage to crit as consistently as possible. If your Crit Rate is too low, her damage will feel much less stable.

Break Intensity and Cycle Intensity are not completely useless, but they are not the main stats you should aim for on Lacrimosa herself.

For substats, look for:

Critical Rate
Critical Damage
Damage Percent
Attack Percent
Flat Attack

The dream piece would have Crit Rate, Crit Damage, Damage Percent, and Attack Percent together, but realistically, just try to stack as many offensive substats as you can.

Lacrimosa Skill Priority

For skill leveling, prioritize:

Basic Attack first
Skill second
Ultimate third

Her basic attacks are extremely important because they help apply and maintain Nightmare stacks. Her skill is also very important because it applies Nightmare and enables her copied anomaly ability gameplay.

You eventually want to level all three, but if you are short on resources, start with basic attacks and skill.

If you are still farming materials and account progression, our Best Ways to Level Up Fast in Neverness to Everness guide can help you progress faster.

Best Lacrimosa Teams

Lacrimosa is a Chaos unit, and Chaos is valuable because it can help enable Scorch, Nova, and Discord Esper Cycle setups.

Her best teams usually focus on applying DoT effects, breaking enemies quickly, and triggering Discord during strong damage windows.

Best Lacrimosa Team: Daffodil, Haniel, Sakiri

One of the best early Lacrimosa teams is:

Lacrimosa
Daffodil
Haniel
Sakiri

This team works because Daffodil helps with breaking enemies, Haniel supports Nova, and Sakiri boosts DoT damage. Sakiri is especially good because her effects can increase DoT damage taken by the enemy, which may improve both Scorch and Nightmare damage.

This team gives Lacrimosa strong personal damage, better break windows, and access to powerful Esper Cycle setups.

Lacrimosa Team Rotation

For the Lacrimosa, Daffodil, Haniel, and Sakiri team, you can use a rotation like this:

Start with Haniel skill and ultimate.

Swap to Daffodil skill and ultimate.

Swap to Sakiri skill and ultimate.

Then swap to Lacrimosa, use her skill and ultimate, then perform around 5 normal attacks to build Nightmare stacks and reset her skill flow.

When enemies are about to attack, swap back to Daffodil to parry. Since Daffodil has already used her burst, she should have access to phantom steps that can trigger parry and help break enemies.

After the break, swap back to Lacrimosa and spam her normal attacks, skill, and ultimate whenever available.

This rotation gives Lacrimosa a strong damage window while using Daffodil to help with parries and breaking.

Alternative Lacrimosa Team Options

If you do not have the full ideal team, there are several alternatives.

Baicang can replace one teammate if you want stronger sub-DPS, although he may demand more field time.

Fadia can replace Haniel if you want more survivability. You lose damage, but the team becomes safer.

Adler can replace Sakiri if you still want a way to help trigger Discord, and he also provides some defensive value.

Hotori can be used in fun Blossom-style teams because she can copy Lacrimosa’s monster skill. This lets you trigger Lacrimosa’s copied anomaly skill multiple times, which can lead to funny double Tomato Devil-style attacks.

Lacrimosa Awakenings: Are Dupes Worth It?

Lacrimosa is good at A0, but her awakenings make a big difference.

Her early awakenings improve her damage, Nightmare uptime, and overall DoT performance. However, the biggest gameplay-changing effect is her later awakening that allows her to trigger an instant Esper Cycle after using her monster/anomaly skill and swapping.

Originally, early testing made this effect feel very strict, with a very short swap window. However, if the updated version gives around 5 seconds to swap instead of 1 second, that makes the mechanic much easier to use. You no longer need to perform such tight swap cancels to benefit from it.

This awakening is powerful because it lets Lacrimosa quickly chain Esper Cycles. For example, she can use her monster skill, swap to Sakiri, then swap back and trigger Scorch. From there, she can help set up Nova and Discord much faster than usual.

That said, this is still extra investment. If you are free-to-play or saving for other characters, one copy of Lacrimosa is already enough to use her as a strong Chaos DPS.

Is Lacrimosa Worth Pulling?

Lacrimosa is worth pulling if you want:

A strong Chaos main DPS
A DoT-focused character
A unit that works well with Scorch, Nova, and Discord
A character with exploration utility
A fun monster-copying mechanic
A strong pick for Pink Paws Heist farming value

She is less necessary if you already have a built DPS and only care about clearing current content. Based on early impressions, NTE’s endgame is not demanding enough to require Lacrimosa specifically.

So, the simple answer is:

Lacrimosa is good at A0, much stronger with awakenings, and especially valuable if you like Chaos teams or want her quality-of-life perks.

Her signature Arc is also very strong, so if you are already committed to using her long-term, The Last Rose is worth considering.
