There are 3 different Factions you can join in New World: Aeternum, and it’s key to know how to join a Faction and which one is the best to choose.
Factions are primarily meant for PvP players, but they do provide extra gear and missions for PvE players too. Primarily, all 3 Factions are engaged in battle as they attempt to gain control over all of the territories in Aeternum. As you might imagine, each one has a different idea of what to use their power and influence for…
In this guide, we’ll give you a quick rundown of each Faction in the game, tell you how to join them, and which one is the best to pick.
How To Join Faction & Which Faction Is Best?
Your first task to be able to join any Faction in New World: Aeternum is to reach Level 17. We recommend focusing on completing Quests to gain experience. You can level up pretty quickly in this game by taking on all the Main and Side Quests you can at once!
Once you reach Level 17, you should notice some new colored icons around Everfall. These icons, shown on the map above, represent each faction as follows:
Green Triangle – Marauders
Yellow Winged Diamond – Covenant
Purple Diamond and Circle – Syndicate
Go to the icon for the Faction you wish to join and you’ll find an NPC there. Talk with them and they’ll offer you a questline. These questlines can take quite a bit to complete, but they’re pretty straightforward as the game itself guides you through every step.
Either way, complete the questline and you’ll be given the option to either join the Faction or to say you don’t want to join right now. If you say you don’t want to join right now, the quest will still count as completed. You can just come back later to join once you make up your mind! It’s also worth noting you can complete the quests for other Factions even after you already joined one.
Lastly, you should know that you can only switch your Faction after 120 days. You’ll also need to complete the quests for the new Faction you wish to join if you haven’t done so yet. The process works the same as when you first join a Faction.
Now, let’s go over which Faction is the best one for you to join in New World: Aeternum.
Best Faction to Join
Realistically speaking, which Faction you choose to join is mostly a roleplaying thing. They all offer the same rewards in their Faction Shop, as well as the same Faction Missions. Besides that, they all have different aesthetics around their central colors, but these are purely for cosmetics such as Armor Transmog.
In essence, all Factions are just different in flavor but behave the same. Here’s a quick rundown of each Faction’s philosophy:
Covenant – Holy soldiers who hold their faith close to their chest. Carried by their faith, they’ll fight anyone and anything that threatens the Spark of Life.
Marauders – Might makes right, or so the Marauders believe. A very loose Faction, as its members primarily care about individuality and strength-
Syndicate – A secretive organization that primarily focuses on seeking knowledge. They want to learn everything they can about the world, even if it means dabbling in forbidden knowledge.
If you don’t care much for the roleplaying aspect, you might also want to consider how much territory each Faction holds. Factions that hold more territory usually get to partake in more War events, which is when players in Factions engage in PvP. On the other hand, Factions that hold less territory allow you to go more on the offensive trying to conquer enemy lands. Either way, this only really matters if you’re a PvP-oriented player!
It’s also worth keeping in mind which territories each Faction holds. You get a housing discount in Settlements that are aligned with your Faction, so keep that in mind when choosing where to lay down your roots.
Other than that, though, now you know everything you need to about Factions in New World: Aeternum and which Faction is the best one to join!
Venezuelan gamer cursed by being interested by most games, resulting in a ridiculous backlog he’ll never be able to conquer. Been gaming for over two decades now! Few things exemplify his wide variety in gaming tastes as the fact that he’s a big fan of both Souls games and the Atelier series at the same time. Also a big fan of Yakuza/Like a Dragon, Deadly Premonition, Zero Escape, and Dead Rising, among others. Considers Lost Judgment and Sekiro to both be masterpieces.
