The sword and shield weapon class allows you to strike your target while blocking some incoming attacks. This is one of the main reasons why this weapon class is quite popular among Monster Hunter fans. Not only that, but it also has some really cool combos, especially with the addition of new weapon switch skills in Sunbreak.

That said, if you want to use a sword and shield, then below are some weapons that I would highly recommend.

Best Swords and Shields to Use in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak

I have picked 5 Swords and Shields in the game, each having high raw damage, good sharpness, and high elemental status. Apart from that, they also have some really cool designs. They’re as follows:

Antique Machina SS

The Antique Machina SS is a completely new weapon that was introduced in the Sunbreak expansion. It comes with high raw damage of 330 as well as a decent purple sharpness. Of course, you can always equip a skill to make its sharpness last even longer.

What makes this weapon powerful, and unique at the same time, is that it comes with the Sleep element. Basically, every successful hit you make using this weapon builds up a monster’s meter, causing it to fall asleep for a few seconds.

Abyssal Sunburst

The Abyssal Sunburst is yet another amazing weapon that comes with 350 raw damage as well as an excellent purple sharpness. It features a Dragon element which allows you to deal additional damage to your target with every hit.

While it does have a -25% affinity, you can easily counter that with the Exploit Weakness skill. Sadly, it’s not as customizable as the other weapons in this list, but it has a level 3 Rampage slot which is really nice.

Spirit Stealer

If you’re looking for a strong sword and shield with a really nice look, then the Spirit Stealer is an excellent choice. It boasts of 330 raw damage as well as a decent purple sharpness. What makes it amazing is that it comes with the Blast element which allows you to generate explosions when hitting your target.

You can also customize the weapon with ease, and it even has level 2 and 3 slots alongside a Rampage slot.

Barbarian Terror +

The Barbarian Terror + features a really high raw damage of 380 which is quite high for a sword and shield weapon. The caveat, however, is that it doesn’t have purple sharpness. Instead, it only has white but a really huge amount of it.

Overall, the weapon isn’t that customizable with only a single Rampage slot. However, if you’re going for really high base damage, then this would make for a solid choice.

Rosengedien

Lastly, we have the Rosengedien which features 320 raw damage, a decent purple sharpness, as well as 20% affinity. Despite all that, it’s not very customizable as it only features a level 2 Rampage slot. Still, it’s actually a really solid choice for a sword and shield.

Apart from that, Rosengedien also comes with a Fire element which allows you to burn your target for extra damage.
