Every player who reaches the Level 70 cap in Season 10 of New World: Aeternum can find themselves confused about what to do for gear.
At this point, you’re very much in the endgame. Realistically, the main thing left to do is to start gearing up so you can tackle the hardest content in the game! But, where do you even start?
Well, that’s exactly what we’re going to help you with in this guide.
What Every Player Should Do For Gear At Level 70 | New World: Aeternum – Season 10
Chest Runs

Your very first task at Level 70 should be to do chest runs. These are also known as world tours (WT), and mainly involve you following a set route where you can get a lot of chests.
What makes this optimal for fresh Level 70 players is the fact that it’s fairly low risk. Most chest runs go through fairly safe routes, minimizing risks while maximizing the amount of loot you get!
This is even better if you can team up with other players, as it makes the process faster when dealing with enemies on the route. Look out for anyone calling out “WT” in the in-game chat and try to join them if possible.
Aside from that, we also have a guide the best chest run currently. Check it out if you don’t know where to start!
Tower of the Sun Farming

Another good way to get gear is to farm the Tower of the Sun in the Nighthaven region.
This tower is home to two elite mobs that reside at the top. You have a good chance to get a few Legendaries every single time you help kill them!
What’s more, these elites have a fairly low respawn timer of about 25 seconds, and they can also be killed pretty quickly by a team of players. So, it’s an extremely efficient farming method if you join up with others.
As with chest runs, you can usually find people in the in-game chat trying to group up to farm this tower. Join up with other players and you’ll be able to farm this with extreme ease.
Try Some PvP!

Considering how big of a deal PvP is in this game, doing some PvP is also a good way to get some gear. In particular, you want to play the following modes: Outpost Rush, Capture the Flag, and 3v3 Arena.
By partaking in these modes, you’ll gain PvP Experience and Azoth Salt. Both of these can be used to claim rewards from the PvP Rewards Track.
As you might’ve guessed by now, you can get a lot of Legendary gear from just the PvP Rewards Track. Plus, you can also get some Artifacts exclusive to it. Those are powerful, unique items with special Perks you can’t find anywhere else! So, don’t ignore these PvP modes.
Grind the Catacombs

If you want some more PvE content for gear, you could also try your hand at the Catacombs. These are randomized dungeons for up to 3 players, and they can even be done solo once you have a good enough build.

By completing these dungeons, you’ll get currencies that you can use at the Catacombs Shop in Nighthaven. This allows you to buy Legendary gear, most of which belongs to various sets. Having multiple pieces from the same set will give you some extra buffs, making it quite strong!
This is definitely an important source of good gear, and is one that shouldn’t be too hard to do even when you’re a fairly fresh Level 70.
Keep Up With Your Faction

Another good way to get some gear at Level 70 is to buy it from your Faction’s shop. For that, though, you’ll first need to complete their Faction quests, which will reward you with Tokens to use at the shop.
Ideally, you’ll want to do at least 3 of these Faction quests every day. You have 3 daily bonuses, which will increase the payout for the quests.

Also, you probably know this already, but remember that you can purchase better items at higher Faction ranks. Keep doing the quests to increase your rank while also earning Tokens!
Hunt Down Artifacts

Once you already have a decent set of Legendary gear, you’ll want to start hunting down Artifacts that complement your build.
As we mentioned before, Artifacts are unique items that possess unique Perks. You can get them mainly through defeating certain world bosses, completing Mutated Expeditions, Season Track milestones, PvP Reward Track options, and caches.
Getting the Artifacts that fit your build and needs is one of the latest but most important parts of gearing up at the endgame.
For help finding what you need, we recommend looking at community-run resources. As an example, there’s this spreadsheet by user Eenkii that lists all Artifacts in Season 10 and their location.
We wish you the best of luck with this part of the process! Depending on what you need, it can be very grindy and RNG-reliant…
Upgrade with Umbral Crystals

Last but not least, you can actually upgrade the gear you have by using Umbral Crystals. You get them through Mutations, Raids, Catacombs, Elite Chests, Outpost Rush, Capture the Flag, 3v3 Arena, and the PvP Reward Track.
However, do keep in mind that there’s a weekly cap of 4000 Umbral Crystals. You can also only hold up to 4000 Umbral Crystals at any given time, so there’s also a wallet cap.
To use them, select the piece of gear you wish to upgrade in your inventory and choose Upgrade. You can then decide how many Umbral Crystals to spend and how much to upgrade.

This upgrade system is mainly meant for gear that you want to keep using in the long run. As such, you can only use it on items with a Gear Score of 700 at a minimum to take them up to Gear Score 800. This increases their stats, as well. It’s particularly useful for must-have Artifacts!
That’s the end of this guide. You now know what every player should do in Season 10 of New World: Aeternum as they hunt down gear at Level 70. We wish you the best of luck getting what you need for your build.
