As you play through Donkey Kong Bananza, you might come across some weird cloudy grey cubes. These distorted cubes float around but can’t be touched, requiring you to activate them first. Once you figure out how to use them, though, they’ll allow you to reach places you couldn’t before! In this short guide, we’ll tell you how to activate these cubes.

How To Use Grey Cubes | Donkey Kong Bananza

So, basically, the grey cubes you can find in various levels of this game can be used to create platforms. To do that, you just need to break any piece of terrain and grab a nice big chunk. Throw the chunk of terrain at the grey cube and the cube will automatically transform upon contact with the chunk of terrain.

Notably, the grey cubes seem to match the same type of terrain as whatever chunk you chucked at them. As for the duration of the effect, the grey cubes seem to stay in their shapeshifted form for about 25 to 30 seconds, give or take. They’ll start to flicker before they revert to their original form. Take that as a warning if you’re standing on it!

These grey cubes mostly come in handy when you need to go grab a distant Banandium Gem, such as the “Beyond the Cloudy Platforms” banana in the Lagoon Layer. Just remember that they revert to their original form after a bit, and you can’t stand on them at that point. Be quick whenever you have to use these weird distorted grey cubes.
