Just like the first game, you can get and play a Harmonica in Death Stranding 2. This is an item you receive pretty early on in the game, and playing it during downtime has some small but notable effects. It helps keep BB happy, for one, which is always important! Read on, we’ll tell you all you need to know to play this instrument.

How To Play The Harmonica | Death Stranding 2

First of all, you will need to obtain the Harmonica to be able to play. If you don’t have it, you will simply need to continue progressing through the game’s main story. You’ll get it automatically pretty early in the game. It doesn’t take very long for Sam to receive it!

Now, to actually use the Harmonica, you need to start resting in the open world. You can do that by just holding the Square button when you are in any safe area.

While resting, press left on the D-Pad to bring up the customization menu. Find the Harmonica under the Face category and equip it by pressing the X button. This doesn’t override most other face customizations, so you can equip it alongside glasses and the like.

With the Harmonica equipped, the last thing you need to do is press the rightmost side of the touchpad while resting. Sam will play a little tune, which will improve BB’s mood and give you some Likes in return. However, just like in Death Stranding 1, you can’t play a custom song. No harmonica freestyle for Sam!

Nonetheless, now you know everything you need to be able to play the Harmonica in Death Stranding 2. Make good use of it to boost BB’s mood when possible and get some extra Likes. Can’t have enough merriment as a porter, honestly.
