Getting a flying mount early in Seven Deadly Sins: Origin is still genuinely one of the best QoL upgrades you can get in the game. It makes exploration across the open world significantly faster and more enjoyable.
Even after patches and the addition of new mounts, the dragon still remains one of the easiest and most reliable ways to improve your exploration without spending money.
That said, the release of the Version 1.2 update made vertical exploration a lot more important. This makes having a flying mount all the more important as well. After all, it can save you tons of time while farming materials, going after events, and clearing map objectives.
Without further ado, here’s how you can have your first free dragon mount as quickly as possible.
How to Get Your First Free Dragon Mount in Seven Deadly Sins: Origin

The easiest F2P flying mount in the game is still the Curious Wild Dragon at Dragon’s Grave.
To get one, the first thing you want to do is get your workbench upgraded to level 4, also known as the Expert’s Workbench. This will allow you to craft Concentrated Potions of Charm. Getting it to level 4 is not particularly difficult and should not take too long if you have been progressing through the game.
Once your workbench is ready, the main challenge when it comes to crafting the potions themselves is sourcing the various types of sap required. Here is how you can get each of them:
- Common Concentrated Sap – Can be salvaged from Wildflower Vines, Wisteria Vines, and Kudzu Vines.
- Fine Concentrated Sap – Can be salvaged from Seashore Sowthistle, Nettle, and Safflower Seeds. However, I would not recommend salvaging Seashore Sowthistle as they are used as raw materials for crafting the High-purity Potion of Charm.
- Rare Concentrated Sap – Can be salvaged from Flower Petals of Immortality.
Finding all the required plants and flowers is actually pretty simple. Simply click on any plant or flower, either from your inventory or directly from the crafting menu, and then select the “Gathering” option. This will automatically mark all currently available locations of that specific plant or flower on your map.
This makes it easy to track down everything you need without having to wander around aimlessly hoping to stumble across them.
I recommend you craft up to 10 Concentrated Potions of Charm before moving on to the next step. Having a decent supply ready will save you from having to backtrack and craft more mid-process.
One important thing to keep in mind is that you should avoid using lower-tier potions. Their success rate is significantly lower, making them a waste of materials.
Capturing a Curious Wild Dragon
Once you have the potions ready, head to the Elder Dragon’s Sanctuary. I have marked the location on the map given below. This is where you will find the green Curious Wild Dragons roaming around.

To capture one, you first need to damage it and bring its health down as low as possible. But be careful not to actually kill it. The lower the health, the higher your chances of capturing it.
Once its health is low enough, use one of your Concentrated Potions of Charm to attempt the capture. It may not work on the first try, but keep using potions and you should have your dragon captured within a few attempts.
After that, simply select it as your pet and you are ready to take to the skies.
Is the Curious Wild Dragon Still Worth Getting?
Absolutely!
Even though newer mounts have been introduced into the game, the dragons are still quite valuable as they consume less stamina while traveling compared to other flying mounts.
They also make exploration much smoother in newer areas. The Version 1.2 update especially made fast aerial movement quite useful due to larger zones and more vertical objectives. The dragons happen to excel in those areas.
If you’re a free-to-play player, getting a dragon early on can speed up exploration, farming materials, event completion, and just world traversal in general.
That’s All
The dragon mount is genuinely one of the most satisfying things to unlock in Seven Deadly Sins: Origin as an F2P player. Now that you have it, exploring the open world is going to be a lot easier.
