Death Stranding 2 features a decent amount of combat, so it’s important to know how to get ammo for your guns. Getting ammo doesn’t work quite like every other game, as it has some unique quirks to it. Wouldn’t be a Kojima game without some quirks, right? In this guide, we’ll tell you everything you need to know to reload your guns in DS2.

How to Get Ammo | Death Stranding 2

The only way to get your ammo back in this game is to return to a facility, distribution center, or even the DHV Magellan. Once there, you can enter Sam’s private room within the facility to automatically refill the ammo for all of your guns. You don’t need to sleep or anything like that, just entering the private room is enough!

If you’re out in the field and wandering, you can only replenish your ammo by grabbing guns from dead enemies. This isn’t very reliable, however, and doesn’t always provide much ammo. It can help in a pinch but don’t expect to top up fully by doing this. Still, worth keeping in mind.

Later on in the game’s main story, you’ll unlock the ability to fabricate Spare Ammo Containers. These can be found under Backpack Customization in the Fabrication and Management menu at any Delivery Terminal in the game. The basic Spare Ammo Container requires 30 Resins, 30 Metals, and 30 Chemicals.

Note that these spare containers do not increase your maximum ammo capacity for your guns. Instead, they give you additional refills once a gun runs dry. If you know your next Order is going to send you to a dangerous area full of hostiles, make sure to make and carry a few Spare Ammo Containers with you!

That’s all you need to know to be able to get some more ammo in Death Stranding 2. Make good use of this knowledge so that you’re ready before engaging in any combat encounter. Don’t want to be caught off guard by BTs and bandits, right?

Speaking of ammo, are you confused by the “MP” ammo type? Well, we have an article detailing what the MP ammo is and how it works. It’s a lot simpler than it first appears!
