As most of our readers probably know, Tekken is an iconic fighting game developed by Bandai Namco Entertainment in collaboration with Arika. Since its first title, Tekken, released back in 1994, it has certainly come a long way with the newest title set to release in January 2024 – Tekken 8.
A new game often means slight changes to the game’s mechanics and the game’s system. This is the case with Tekken 8 and the new “Heat” system which we will explain in today’s article. Without any more time wasting, let’s get to it!
What is the Heat System?
In short, the Heat System in Tekken 8 is a brand-new mechanic that characters gain during fights. Once Heat is activated, characters gain extra properties and abilities for a short time. In addition to this, Heat can be activated at will.
How to Activate Heat in Tekken 8
There are 2 ways in which players can activate heat or enter the so-called Heat state. The first is called Heat Burst.
Once you do this, the character will perform a slamming attack that causes frame advantage on attacking and blocking. In addition to this, it will also trigger the Bounce status during combat.
The second way in which players can enter the Heat state is via the Heat Engager. The Heat Engager can be activated after certain moves followed by the character running forward with a frame advantage.
Do note that Heat can be activated at any point once per round!
Heat Energy
Heat Energy can also be used to perform a special move called Heat Smash. The move uses quite a bit of Heat Energy so be careful when using it.
Alternatively, you can use Heat Dash which spends far less Heat Energy but also deals significantly less damage.
Having 2 Heat Energy means you can use Heat Smash or Heat Dash twice.
