28 articlesHelldivers 2 is a a 3rd person squad-based shooter game, where players are tasked with winning an intergalactic struggle to rid the galaxy of alien-like bugs and bots. Thankfully, you’ll be equipped with an arsenal of stratagems, that can be unlocked from your destroyer ship.
There are 50 stratagems to unlock in the game. These special abilities provide your players with equipment and the best support during the intergalactic struggle. That said, you’ll first need to know how to walk with them, here’s how!
How to Walk With Stratagems
If you’re playing Helldivers2 for the first time, you’ll notice that you remain absolutely still when entering stratagem commands. That said, it’s not ideal to be standing still in an ongoing battle against alien forces. However, there is a way to fix this problem!
Change Controls
The default control settings to access stratagem commands are the “WASD” keys, these keys are also used for movement in the game. To walk while using a stratagem, you will need to change your control settings under the “Options” menu. Then, go to “Mouse& Keyboard“, as seen in image above.

Then, scroll all the way down to the bottom of the settings and change your “Stratagem” controls to any other keys but “WASD.” Change your stratagems controls to the arrow keys, it makes it easier to access in battle while walking.
Now that you’ve changed your command keys, you’ll be able to through a grenade and run away at the same time!
