Leviathans are dangerous Illuminate ships in Helldivers 2, so you’ll need to know their weak points and the best guns to use against them.

Creepily, these massive flying “ships” seem to be partly organic. On the upside, you won’t have time to worry about that when facing them. After all, they can quickly wipe you out with their insane firepower! That’s not much of an upside, actually… but fret not, we’ll help you take them out before they get you!

Read on, we’ll tell you the best weak points to focus on and which guns are most useful against them.

When it comes to the Leviathans, their main weak points seem to be their fins or wings (or fings, if you wish). They’re highlighted in the screenshot above.

Out of these, the backmost fin seems to be the weakest. It’s the easiest to break, which allows you to reveal the Leviathans’ innards. However, breaking the frontmost fin instead is also a solid choice, as it will disable the Leviathan’s powerful cannons. That said, the frontal fins are a tad more resilient.

Recoilles Rifle Cooperation!

Either way, break any of the fins to expose the Leviathan’s innards, as we mentioned before. The innards seem to be a lot less resilient than the fins, allowing your squad of divers to deal extra damage. For reference, the back fin breaks in 1 Recoilless Rifle shot while the frontal fins require 2 shots.

Speaking of, these are the best weapons and support tools to use against the fins are the Recoilless Rifle, Anti-Tank Emplacements, and Expendable Anti-Tanks. The Spear is also pretty solid when it comes to damage, but it can be unwieldy due to its unreliable lock-on.

Once the innards are exposed, those same weapons are still the best. However, you can also use Laser Cannons, Eruptors, Autocannons, and other strong explosive weapons. Ideally, though, have one Diver just using the Recoilless Rifle while another Diver reloads it is the fastest method.

Mech vs Leviathan

For mech fans, the Emancipator Exosuit can also work if you make sure to focus fire on a single spot. However, it can take anywhere between 60 to 100 rounds to do the job…

Nonetheless, that’s all you need to know about the weak points and best guns to defeat Leviathans in Helldivers 2. In short, use the trusty RR and aim for those fins!
