God of War: Ragnarok gets a free new roguelite expansion via the Valhalla DLC, but the classic Nornir Rune chest puzzles return.
They work similar to how they do in the base game, but there’s some randomization involved.
In this guide, we’ll tell you everything you need to know about Nornir Rune chest puzzles in the Valhalla DLC.
How To Solve Nornir Rune Chest Puzzles in the Valhalla DLC
The Nornir Rune Chest puzzles in the new Valhalla DLC work very similarly to the ones in the base, and they come in the same five varieties.
Let’s go over all five types of rune puzzles and the basics of solving them:
Idols: Find idols with the same runes as the ones shown on the chest and break them through any means necessary.
Switches: Look for rotating switches with runes on them, then hit them until they match the runes shown on the chest.
Torches: You’ll have to find torches or braziers and light them on fire. The Blades of Chaos’ “Blazing Surge” ability is the easiest way to light them.
Bells: You’ll need to find 3 different bells across the area and hit them by throwing your axe. Be fast, because you need all bells to keep ringing at the same time.
Totems: Find and hit three Runic totems at the same time. This variation is very rare in the DLC.
With that said, we do have some bad news: the solutions are randomized each time!
That means that we can’t provide solutions to the chests’ puzzles at all. After all, the Valhalla DLC is a roguelike mode, so no two runs are exactly the same.
You’ll have to carefully comb the area around the chests to find the runes, and their positions will almost never be the same across runs.
We wish we could help you out even more, but you at least know what to look for whenever you find more Nornir Rune chest puzzles. We wish you the best of luck tackling this new challenging content!
