The Valhalla DLC allows Kratos to introspect as an epilogue to God of War: Ragnarok’s story, allowing him to think about what his younger self did.
You’ll even get to unlock a new skin that makes Kratos look like his younger self. There’s no doubt about it, this DLC is a treat for those who’ve stuck with the series over the decades!
In this guide, we tell you everything you need to know to unlock the younger classic Kratos skin.
How To Unlock Younger Kratos in Valhalla DLC
You unlock the Younger Kratos skin, or Classic Kratos, by completing the main questline of the DLC.
More specifically, you need to complete the “The Work, Part 3: Benevolence” quest. You’ll need to defeat Tyr at the end of Valhalla a total of three times.
Each fight is different and decently tough, so you’ll have to choose your perks wisely during your attempts at Valhalla.
After the third victory against Tyr, you’ll get treated to the finale of the DLC’s story, and the full conclusion of God of War: Ragnarok.
We won’t spoil what exactly happens once you manage to complete it, but the ending of the Valhalla DLC is sure to be a treat for old-school God of War fans.
Those who started with the recent games are sure to enjoy it, but longtime fans were clearly the real target audience of this DLC’s story.
Once you’ve completed the story and witnessed the ending, you’ll be returned to the Gateway to Valhalla.
Speak with Freya, Sigrún, and Gunnr at the gateway and you’ll get notified that there’s still more to see in Valhalla. You’ll also get the Sparta armour set and the Classic Kratos skin!
Now, just approach the Appearance Tablet and press R3 to switch between Classic and Modern Kratos. Equip the full Sparta set for that authentic classic look, too!
Lastly, you can also use the Classic Kratos skin outside of Valhalla anytime. Just press R3 while you’re inside of the equipment menus and you can enable or disable the skin.
The unlock remains even in New Game+, so it’s going to be quite interesting to see young Kratos interact with Atreus!
Nonetheless, now you know how to unlock and use this classic skin anytime you want. If you want the Zeus Armor set though, we have a guide for that.
