“Ripe For Trouble” is one of the many quests you can do while exploring Natlan in Genshin Impact, and a fairly obscure one.
This quest doesn’t have a direct marker telling you how to start it, making it a bit obtuse. Aside from that, your task for this quest will be ultimately to help the local flora. A certain fruit, known as the Mountain King Flamegranate, seems to not be thriving for some reason.
In this guide, we’ll tell you everything you need to start and complete the “Ripe For Trouble” quest in Genshin Impact.
Ripe For Trouble | Genshin Impact Quest Guide
Starting the Quest
To start the “Ripe for Trouble” quest in Genshin Impact, use the Teleport Waypoint marked above. It’s south of the Scions of the Canopy tribe’s hub, in the Coatepec Mountain part of Natlan.
Once you teleport, look for a glimmering piece of paper atop of a box by the Teleport Waypoint. It’s the “Green-Edged Paper Slip”, which seems to talk about a Flamegranate tree root system.
To find out more, travel to the spot marked above in the Tequemecan Valley area. It’s near a notoriously massive tree in the area.
When you’re near the spot, look for a canyon along the nearby cliff and drop all the way down.
Then follow the wooden structures to meet Poca, who seems to be worried that a man named Tisoc has gone missing. Sounds like a job for a Traveler, right? This will officially start the “Ripe For Trouble” quest!
Enter the Cavern & Look for Tisoc
Your first objective here is pretty simple. Jump down the hole behind Poca and fall all the way down to enter a massive cave.
Then, keep following the only path available by going east. Make sure to activate the nearby Teleport Waypoint while you’re at it, as well!
The path will end after the Teleport Waypoint and you’ll be overlooking a massive root system.
Glide toward the massive root in the center of the cave to find Tisoc unconscious on the ground. Simply speak to him to continue with the quest.
Explore the Roots of the Flamegranate Tree
Right after the conversation, go directly northeast and follow the quest marker through the large linear path. Keep going until you reach a spot where you can indwell a Yumkasauri.
Indwell the Yumkasauri and use them to grab one of the Flamegranates, which are the blue and yellow fruits.
Throw the Flamegranate at the nearby Slimes to try it out. This will also open up a chest, so don’t forget to loot its contents.
Proceed through the path that was blocked by the Slimes and you’ll come across a wall of Solidifed Magma. To break it down, you’ll need to use a Flamegranate again.
There are some Flamegranates directly to your left once the conversation with Tisoc ends. You can reach them by using the Yumkasauri’s grapple ability.
Throw a Flamegranate at the Solidified Magma to break the wall down and reveal a deeper part of the cave!
Continue Forward
Enter the new area after breaking down the Solidified Magma. You’ll now simply need to proceed along a linear path. Use the Yumkasauri’s grapple ability on the nearby devices to reveal platforms so that you can continue. Keep going until you reach a platform with a dormant Ruin Guard.
You can choose to either take out or ignore the Ruin Guard, though taking it out would make things simpler. Either way, go up the stairs once you’ve dealt with the Ruin Guard.
Interact with the switch to open a distant gate, but you’ll also be locked into the room with the switch.
To escape, use the Yumkasauri’s attack on the cracked wall. Alternatively, you can break down the boxes in front of the wall to reveal a barrel you can explode to break the wall. This is helpful in case you decided to leave the Yumkasauri to fight the Ruin Guard!
Go through the hole in the wall and return outside, then look for the gate you opened with the switch. It’s directly in front of the stairs you just took, so it should be easy to find. Interact with the Phlogiston mechanism to spawn a set of Coilgrass Sigils over the water.
Then, use the Coilgrass Sigils to cross the water and reach the faraway ruins while staying in Yumkasauri form.
Break the Solidified Magma Again
Go up the stairs once you reach this part of the ruins and you should instantly see a large wall of Solidified Magma in the distance. Your goal is to break this wall down, just like you did before.
Approach the wall of magma and turn to your right to find a Flamegranate hidden by the roots of a tree.
Then, throw the Flamegranate at the glowing spots of magma on the wall. You’ll need to throw two Flamegranates, but you can pick the same one multiple times.
Once you break down the wall, you simply need to follow the new path you opened up until you reach a large Liquid Phlogiston lake.
Increase the Liquid Phlogiston Levels
Now, you’ll need to cross the Liquid Phlogiston to reach some rocks causing a blockage. After the cutscene, use the Yumkasauri’s grapple ability to cross toward the first island on your left.
Walk toward the northern part of the island and you should spot a tunnel off in the distance in the north. That’s where you’ll need to go. Use the Yumkasauri’s abilities and carefully make your way there while avoiding the Liquid Phlogiston.
Once you go through the tunnel, follow the path in front of you. It’ll be the one leading up, which will get you behind the rocks causing the blockage.
After you go up the path, turn to your left and follow the river of Liquid Phlogiston. Use the Coilgrass Sigils to cross safely until you reach the end.
Lastly, you will once again need to break another wall of Solidified Magma. You know the drill by now, pick up one of the nearby Flamegranates and throw it at the wall!
Raising the Liquid Phlogiston levels has made the area extremely unsafe. It’s time to leave, now! Conveniently, a bunch of Coilgrass Sigils appeared. Use them and they will lead you directly to safety.
Reach the surface and a short cutscene with Tisoc will play. Despite things getting a bit hairy at the end, it seems that the Mountain King Flamegranates are thriving thanks to your efforts. Congratulations, you’ve completed the “Ripe For Trouble” quest in Genshin Impact 5.0!
