During the “They Once Walked the Starry Sky” quest in Genshin Impact, you’ll encounter a puzzle asking you to connect a set of Oracle Pillars in a specific shape.
This part of the quest will become available to you after you help Captain Montagne catch the suspicious person and retrieve the magical thread from them. You will need the magical thread to connect the Oracle Pillars.
In this guide, we will be looking at the solution for this tricky puzzle. The quest is a big part of the game’s Simulanka event, and completing the puzzle is necessary to progress the quest.
Connect the Oracle Pillars to Thread Them into a Specific Shape Guide
For this puzzle, you will need to connect the pillars in the room using the magic thread, and you will need to do this in a specific pattern. The game doesn’t exactly tell you the pattern, but it gives you a massive hint “The Shape of the Stars”.
So when connecting the pillars, you will need to connect them in the shape of a star. This puzzle can be a bit tricky, mainly because the star the game wants you to make isn’t the first thing most people will think of when they think of a star.
The star the game wants you to make resembles the shape of a Primogem. The image above shows the exact pattern you will need to make in order to progress this part of the quest.
You can do this fairly easily by connecting three pillars from one side, as seen in the image above. Repeat this for all 4 sides, and you will end up with a star that resembles the shape of a Primogem. Order doesn’t matter here, so you can start with any pillar.
Once you complete the shape, a Scattered Star will spawn in the middle of the shape. Pick it up to continue with the rest of the quest. There are 2 more Scattered Stars that you can find besides this one. Check out our guide on the location of all 3 Scattered Stars for more on that.
