The Glider is one of the most fun tools in Enshrouded, so you will want to get it as early as possible in this game.

It doesn’t just allow you to go way faster, it also allows you to reach previously unreachable places. Plus, as we already mentioned, it’s just plain fun to use!

In this guide, we’ll tell you how to get the glider as early in the game as possible.

How To Get The Glider in the Early Game

Enshrouded: How to Get a Glider in Early Game - Crafting

The basic glider in Enshrouded is a crafted tool, so you’ll mostly need to gather its materials. The needed materials are as follows:

  • Shroud Wood x8
  • Animal Fur x2
  • String x2
  • Shrouded Spores x2

On top of that, you’ll need to set up a Workbench. It’s the crafting station you use to make the glider, after all!

Thanks to how the game’s world was made, it’s possible for us to tell exactly where to find everything. As such, we’ll go step by step on how to gather every material as soon as possible!

Start of the Game – The Cinder Vault

Cinder Vault

There’s not much for you to do in the Cinder Vault, so just follow the tutorial normally and get used to the game’s feel.

Plant Fiber gathering

Then, as soon as you exit the vault and go out into the open world, look for some plants to your right.

These plants next to the vault’s exit can be harvested for Twigs and Plant Fiber, which you’ll need later on to make String.

Once you’re done, follow the stairs to the bottom and turn to your left.

Cave entrance

You should be facing to the west now, and you should notice a cave with some wooden structures. Steel yourself and head towards the cave!

Shroud enemies

Explore the cave until you reach its depths and you will encounter some enemies. Slay them and loot them to get the Shroud Spores necessary for the glider.

Then, just continue through the cave until you reach the exit.

Killing a ram

As soon as you leave the cave, you should spot some wild rams out in the open plains. Make sure to hunt at least one of them to get the Animal Fur.

They usually drop around 3 pieces of fur, so just one kill should do!

Plains For First Base quest marker

Once you’ve gotten the necessary fur, follow the red beacon that guides you toward the “Plains For First Base” quest.

First Base Area

Pickaxe and Axe crafting

Now that you’re in the area where you build your first base, it’s time to get crafting!

Open the crafting menu and craft an Axe and a Pickaxe. You will need the Axe to chop down trees, and the Pickaxe to gather Stones to make the first Flame Altar.

Also make sure to harvest as many of the nearby plants as possible, as you’ll need their Plant Fiber to make String.

Workbench ready

When you’ve made your tools, build the Flame Altar with 5 Stone and place it down.

Then, go chop down trees until you get at least 8 Wood Logs to craft a Workbench.

Glider recipe

Once you craft the Workbench, place it down anywhere you want within your base and interact with it. You’ll notice the Glider at the bottom of the list, in the Survival category.

At this point, you should have everything you need to craft the Glider, except for the Shroud Wood. So, it’s time to go get it!

Getting Shroud Wood

Heading northwest

Look toward the northwest from your base area and head in that direction.

You’ll eventually reach a cliff leading to an area consumed by the Shroud. One might even say the area is Enshrouded, huh?

Shroud Trees

Anyway, do you notice those tall thin trees in the area? These are the ones you need to chop down.

To get down there, hug the cliff and try to carefully slow down to reach the bottom of the area. You shouldn’t be attacked by any enemies in this area, so it should be safe despite looking scary.

Choppin' trees

All that’s left for you to do is chop down trees until you get the 8 pieces of Shroud Wood!

When you have the materials, head back towards the cliff and try to climb it. You don’t need to climb it fully, but you need to reach an area where you aren’t inside the Shroud anymore.

Climbing cliff

Once you do, you can open your map and Fast Travel back to your Base.

Ready to craft the glider

Finally, just approach the Workbench and craft the Glider. Congratulations, you’ve got it! You can now equip it, which lets you glide by pressing the Jump button while you’re already in midair.
